Why Where the Judges Scores So Close?

    9-3 for Mayweather.

    Disappointed that Bayliss wouldn't allow any inside fighting what so ever, decent fight though.

    Not the ref's fault. Every time Maidana tried to get in that close Mayweather smothered it and held both his arms - and with good reason when you consider all the headbutting, pushing and low blows he took the last fight.

    I had it scored like the OP. At most you can give Maidana 3 rounds, more than that and you have to learn how to score a fight. 10 seconds of the round throwing wild, inaccurate shots isn't enough to win rounds.

    Mayweather had the better defence for almost all 12 rounds, the better ring generaliship for all 12 rounds. The only rounds you can argue for Maidana are the ones in which he was effectively aggressive and landed good, clean punches - two rounds, three at a push.

    You then have the 10-8 round. Surprised the scorecards were so close myself.
