I agree that Parker hasnt looked great but why would a win over Ortiz top any of Parkers? Im not convinced after watching Ortiz against Scott, that Ortiz would have beaten H Furey. What decent undefeated fighters does Ortiz hold wins over and before someone says undefeated means nothing and its who you beat etc. Its one of the reasons Ortiz was rated due to being undefeated and another one of the reasons Joshua/Wilder is anticipated
I'm one who has said right from the start that Ortiz's resume is lacking, but he has been avoided for whatever reason and he was a concensus top 3/5 heavyweight and a victory over him is better than Ruiz jr, Hughie Lewis Fury and the journeyman who's name has slipped me.
I cant say I agree or disagree. I dont think Ortiz would have beaten H Fury but can agree to disagree. I thought it was a decent win for Wilder like I did Ruiz and Fury for Parker. I think because Wilder was troubled at one point people tend to then think they were better wins. I can agree to disagree
He has good name wins but the name wins were always after or not long after they had suffered a defeat. I have said before but often when a fighter suffers a defeat they can often lose soon after, like J Toney who had a massive undefeated run but after losing to Jones Jnr lost his next fight after. Tell me what undefeated fighters he holds a win over? I dont think Ortiz was any better a win than Ruiz or Fury respectively. As said I think H Fury would outpoint Ortiz after watching Ortiz wins against Allen and Scott. Only my opinion and not worth anything
You are fair and I always enjoy reading your posts. I'm not actually a fan of Wilder's and I've even ridiculed his technique in the past. But I don't understand why people think that he and his team should just immediately accept whatever offer Hearn throws out. They're obviously not going to do that, and neither would Hearn if the roles were reversed. To be honest, I don't know what financial arrangement that he has with his handlers. So you may well be right there. I would have liked to have seen him fight Whyte over here. That would have been great. In a perfect world, he'd fight Whyte on a 'Double Header' with Joshua-Povetkin. I don't know what's going to happen. But I'm very confident that this fight will get made within the next 6 months.
You never know in boxing, especially at HW. But I'm confident that they'll reach an agreement soon. In my opinion, he and his handlers not immediately agreeing to Hearn's proposal, doesn't constitute as him ducking. It's just the start of negotiations.
There's an added layer to the deal which could complicate matters, I suspect. Hearn has been pretty vocal about Matchroom breaking into the US market, and having the undisputed HW champ would help him achieve that goal. Promoting the unified HW chmp still presents decent leverage with, say, a State side fight with Jarrell Miller as a toe through the door. Wilder ripping the belts from AJ in the UK and handing Hearn's biggest bargaining chip to Haymon is where the real risk lies for Matchroom. Hearn has plenty of reasons to be wary of signing off a fight between AJ and Wilder. Add to that, he's fronting up some serious players over there by challenging their territory and might find those waters a little too deep to paddle out of using his silver spoon....
All this is now irrelevant now the Gypsy King has decided to return and take back what is rightfully his.. Both the bodybuilder and the internet gansta now will probs come to a quick agreement given they both know their window of opportunity to keeps their belts has been reduced... The countdown has stated...
Just a reminder of my for warning of what was going to happen..........and those who actually went along with wilder need to re reread this post/thread.
