Why Wlad clinches and not want to fight inside? Its horrible to watch his fights, it reminds more wrestling than boxing.

some fights such as the Povetkin fight his opponent was to blame as he constantly came rushing in with his head down

in lots more fights he doesn't clinch that much at all eg Wach

it also helps limit his opponents offense and theres way more fighters in the game that hug a lot more than Wlad

Ali hugged a whole lot too but i never see that being used against him

No inside game at all. TO BE HONEST KLITCHKO AINT A FLURRIER OR A COMBO PUNCHER he likes his 1-2's jab cross jab cross, he aint lennox lewis who can throw 1-2-3-4-5. Old wlad used too, until he punched himself out and got ko'd so hes anti-volume punching nowadays. Tyson fury 6'9 260lbs is a good inside fighter for his size!

its all a part of boxing
    clinches are not illegal
Ali did it at the end of his career
John Ruiz did it his entire career

Truth be told Wlad does have at least one big weapon inside but he rarely uses it anymore. His short left hook out of a clinch is brutal. Derrick Jefferson ate a couple that crumpled him up. Klit rarely ever opens up with it now but he does have it.

To neutralize and tire out his opponent. It's part of the game, deal with it.

Doesn't want to get tagged.. its like a defensive tactics.
    also, no inside game...

he kinda had one.. ala Shufford and Jefferson fights.. short left hooks on the inside.. were thing of beauty.. shame he doesn't have those tactics after Stewart.. (or after Sanders)

He controls distance this way. His strength and power comes at the end of his punches. With his arms being so long and being so tall, it's not realistic that he fights on the inside where his punches wouldn't get maximum leverage and would end up smothering his offense. On the outside he can maximize his power.....control range and use his physical attributes to his advantage.

Try watching old HW matches, when I was a kid I almost couldn't stand HW matches, all I saw were big guys hugging each other, either because they we clinching or because they had sh*tty stamina. At least Wlad incorporates it into his strategy to win a match.

He can fight on the inside, he's just harder to beat by clinching.

He wants his fights as one-sided as possible so he makes it a priority to eliminate any chance of his opponent scoring on him. It's already nearly impossible to outbox him on the outside.

    its a fair point
if you way 17 stone, obviously you not gonna have as high stamina to punch 1-2 mins of every round
most heavy ways clinch a lot, tyson fury tbh doesn't do it as much as most, but thats as he picks them off with jabs a bit.
