Exactly. There was no "banging him about".....he did "counter effectively" though in the early rounds

I cant see Wladimir losing any time soon. Ibragimov and Povetkin are worthy foes though.

Hey Edmonton, is there a probationary waiting period on here before a newbie can comment ?

Wlad will beat both Sultan and Alexander and both the same way, TKO before the 7th round.

I take them both to go 12 with Wlad. Sultan loses via UD and I "might" be taking Povetkin for the upset, I will analyze much more if the fight happens

The Iggy that showed up against Briggs would not be an easy fight for Wlad. Ibragimov was fast on his feet, good defense, and sharp in punching. Lets not forget his best punch is probably the straight left....like Sanders

I wouldn't go that far. Once you are at the top level of the sport, especially if they have power... there is always a chance for an upset. All it takes is one good shot that you don't see coming, and the odds, skills, ect...can go right out of the window.

However, I think that Wlad should be a heavy favorite against everyone else in the division.

As he will be....and im hoping it carries over against Povetkin for my wagering. If he is something like +500 that would be sweet. My 6th sense tells me that fight will be an upset guys :hey

In his three losses, Wlad was beaten only once because of what the other fighter did. If his body betrays him like against Purrity and Brewster 1, he can lose against any average fighter. If he is on top of his game, it would take something exceptional to beat him:

    - Speed and power combined like Tyson or Sanders (Tyson is better, but Sanders at 6'4 had a great package to fight Wlad)

    - Exceptional reflexes, speed plus chin like Ali

    - All the strength Wlad has himself like Lennox Lewis

Povetkin and Iggy are good fighters, but they have no exceptional attributes. Anything can happen in boxing, but it seems like Wlad's days of shaky performances are behind him. Povetkin had so much succes an amateur for so long, I don't hink he can change his style. He doesn't slip punches, which was fine in the amateurs with head gear but if he comes forward against Wlad like he did against Chambers, he will take thundering punches and he is not McCall in the chin department. Iggy is a good solid fighter who looks good against guys of his own size. All that Ray Austin had to trouble Iggy was size and reach, Wlad has that plus so much more skill and power.

You forget one of Povetkins best attributes: the mental game. No one has better mental toughness than Povetkin (imo). Call me crazy but I think he makes it past early bombs from Wlad and finds him late, when Wlad is thinking "how the hell is this guy still throwing punches at me?". Povetkin had one of his worst performances against Chambers, but he was still throwing 70-80 punches in the last rounds. He has what it takes to dethrone Wladdy

Povetkin is mentally tough, yes. That was the impression of Brewster as well until he found out that Wlad wasn't gassing in the second fight and then he quit on his stool. Wlad's power can do that to a fighter. Povetkin has a great workrate, but he throws the same type of punches, regardless of his connect percentage. I didn't see him adapt when Chambers blocked many of his punches, he just continued to do the same thing. I believe his style is ingrained in him and at 28, he isn't going to learn many new tricks.

Wladimir is not unbeatable as many have pointed out but I do not see him losing to those guys.

One more thing: I don't see how a great workrate is a good weapon against Wlad. If he doesn't have to worry about one - punch KO power, he is awesome with his offensive arsenal and rarely loses a round. Povetkin is a good fighter and I would favor him over most other HW's, but I can't see how is going to throw his 70 - 80 punches, let alone land a lot of them, once his face gets to know that ramrod jab. Povetkin would have to move like Tyson to slip Wlad's jab or have reflexes like Ali or jab himself like Holmes to get close enough to use his strengths.
