Why wont Green except 60-40 i thought he was going to fight Roy for free

No doubt bhop is the bigger name but is he the bigger draw?
Since the proposed fight would be taking place in Australia i would have to say no.
No doubt bhop is the draw in the U.S and will bring in some american viewers but its hardly going to built up as some blockbuster in the US.
The main share of tv money will come from the Australian ppv's and of course there will be a huge live gate around 20 thousand id say.
Hopkins will earn around 4 mil if he takes the 50/50 offer which is fair in my eyes considering he was offered 1.2 mil to fight Dawson and he only made 250k in his last fight.

When they fight "for free", it's not by choice. It's because they're having their money stolen or have to pay off their debts.

 

I disagree. Even in Australia, nobody wants to watch Green vs some bum. The only way any Danny Green fight is going to make decent money/big audiences is to fight a big name.

That big name is Hopkins. If Green was to fight anybody else, nobody would watch it. In otherwords, Green isn't the draw by himself: he needs a big name for people to want to watch.

 

You ever heard of a guy that Danny fought by the name of James Crawford [U.S.A] ?
To cut a long story short he made over 1 mil fighting that bum and sold out the 5 thousand seat arena in 5 days:deal
So your mistaken about nobody wanting to watch Danny fight if its not against a big name.
If Hopkins backs out of the fight he will probaly fight Manny Siaca who is hardly a house hold name yet he will easily clear 1.5 mil so i'd say thats decent money wouldn't you?

 

no I am not mistaken. The amount of money and audience Green would make fighting Hopkins would be a lot, a lot more money than fighting a bum.


Maybe in 2005 Green could get away with fighting bums, but not anymore.

Make no mistake, Green wants to cash in (in terms of both money and legacy) now while the iron is hot. His ability to pull in a big name like Hopkins will diminishes the further we get away from the Jones fight. His next fight is crucial. Fight another comparative nobody and it'll probably be all over for him on the world stage.

 

Green definitely deserves 50% for a fight in Australia. He is the big draw otherwise Hopkins would still be making chump change fighting journeymen in the US.

60-40 should be plenty for green. if he doesnt except that he doesnt really want the fight.

 

Someone off their rocker would believe that Danny Green deserves a 50-50 split with Hopkins. Hopkins is the name here, not Danny Green, as was apparent when him and Roy Jones fought out in a half filled arena. Danny will sell a few tickets in Australia but the draw is definitely Hopkins, and the pay scale should resemble that. Hell Hopkins could demand 65-35 and Green still would be getting about what he is worth in comparison.

 

I like Danny, but come on, he doesn't desrve 50/50.
He has made a name ( recent yrs im talking ) via ko'ing ( and luckilly ) a has been legend and suffering an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Mundine ( who as with most aussies, i dont like )
But i hope the fight goes ahead with Hopkins, though it will be a boring, one sided, dirty win to Hopkins.
