Floyd also went up to fight Canelo, and beat that ass. Now how come GGG didn't go up to fight Ward. Aww, I know, pure and simple fear of getting exposed and knocked clean out.

Wasn't there countless threads about Canelo and GGG at 155? Didn't GGG fans day he'd be drained at 155 but you want him at 154 for a fight that gets him nothing? You'd want him to fight Floyd at 154 for nothing but don't want him to fight Canelo at 155 for the 160 belt and the best win he could possibly get at 160? Sounds like your love for Mayweather disappeared since "May Day"...lol

If Mayweather was going to face a middleweight for his 50th fight, then surely it would make far more sense to face Canelo (or Khan, if some freaky thing were to happen).

Why in the world would Floyd face Golovkin instead of one of those 2?

Because Golovkin is big and scary and Floyd is small, risk averse and obsessed with being undefeated.

Well, Canelo won't be a middleweight champion past May if he goes the Floyd route since he'd be stripped.

But, forgetting the title for a moment, do you really think fighting Canelo and beating him a second time at 155 would add much to Floyd's legacy?

I can see Mayweather doing it if the MW title was included...I don't think he'd fight a MW if it wasn't a title fight. The fight would have to be a perfect scenario. Huge money fight + title. Only two names that meet those standards are Canelo and Golovkin, but as far as boxing is concerned, there's a good chance Canelo won't be middleweight champion past September (unless some freaky thing happened ;) ).

Didn't you tell me, several months back, that Canelo-Golovkin would happen by May? :D

    No.

I don't think it would really do much for Floyd's legacy. But in fairness, I don't think it would do much for Golovkin's legacy either.

In both cases, the idea of targeting Canelo would be financially motivated, and in both cases the only real "legacy enhancement" comes in the form of a "checklist accomplishment". Good for rattling off something extra on the resume list of accomplishments.

But both fights would be mismatches, IMHO.

Well, you know we don't see eye to eye on this aspect, so I will respectfully continue to disagree with you on that front.

Fighting GGG is more than should be asked of a guy of Floyd's age and accomplishments. Giving a top welter a shot is enough.

Lil g is a very good fighter. But, he prefers to beat up overmatched MWs while he waits on smaller more notable fighters to move up. He's not in Floyd's league. Move up and look for challenges...build a legacy.

I don't want Golovkin fighting a Middleweight at 155. I'm totally okay with him fighting the best fighter of this generation at 154. See the difference?

Shameful that you think fighting Floyd Mayweather would be for nothing. Mayweather is the best fighter of this generation. The lottery ticket. The face of boxing. You think a win over him would be for nothing?

I'm not going to criticize Floyd for not fighting GGG. That'd be stupid. I'd love to see the fight though. The best defensive fighter maybe of all time versus a prime MW killer. It'll never happen unfortunately.

As I've already told you, what I was basing everything off on was if the WBC had to make a decision between Canelo and their rules, then they'd choose their rules. It never came to that. K2 agreed to a voluntary defense, so we never got to that point. I'll admit I didn't think K2 would agree to the defense, but I don't think many people did.

I still fervently believe WBC will strip Canelo this May if he decides to dodge the fight. The fact that every side has signed this contractually makes it even more valid. Before, it was just words and votes. Now, it's on paper. Paper may not mean much to you, but to a court, it does.

But yeah, I agree it's financially motivated for both. Still, I don't see Mayweather fighting at middleweight unless a title is involved.

The weight disparity is too great. GGG might permanently damage PBF at 160 and it seems to me that 154 is a drain too far for Golovkin. Not going to happen.

Because Mayweather is finished with boxing. I don't know why that's so hard to grasp with some people.

That's probably true.but i have to ask.how dumb it would be,to fight somebody you know, you will lose?fighters have taken these kind of fights before.but just for money.why in the earth Floyd would tarnish his legacy if this 1st round Ko is coming, what you predict.

I would like to see this match,if Floyd would be 3-5yrs younger.would probably still lose.but could be competitive.

Now Floyd is totally shot.the fight with Berto totally proved it.Floyd don't have nothing left.

And if i want to see floyd KO'ed i prefer Kovalev.or Wilder etc.. same result as against GGG but more MONEY and bigger ***** :deal
