You know zero about physical training and conditioning. Zero.None. Every other sport, the athletes have gotten bigger, more powerful, stronger, because of MASSIVE adavances in training methods. And actually.no. Thats not what ATG means. Like I said Jesse Owens is considered an ATG athlete even though he wouldnt be able to compete in the modern era. Same with Rod Laver, George Best, Jim Browne etc, etc, etc in their respective fields. None of them would be able to compete in the modern era,but they're considered ATGs because of what theyn acheived in THEIR eras. If you think Dempsey would KO Lewis in 2 rounds, you know less about boxing than you do about fitness. You're not simply born massively strong. Jeesh. Why do you think NFL players or rugby players of today are so much bigger and stronger and more powerful than players of 50 years ago? Every other sport on the planet admits that its sport moves on massively over the generation. Players become fitter, stronger, and more skilled. Apparently you think boxing is the single exception to the rule. Answer me this. Why was Adamek/Klitschko such a mismatch, was it because Kilitschko was THAT much more skilled. Adamek was a beast at light heavy/ arguably no.1 at cruiser, yet a 40 year old Vitali completely annihilates him in front of his hom fans and barely takes a punch. The slickest, most skilled small heavyweight of the last 20 years, chris Byrd was absolutely destroyed by Wlad twice. Is that because Wlad was too skillled for him, or maybe he was just both skilled AND had size advantages. I suppose it had nothing to do with size? People ***** about light welters fighting welters, or middleweights who move up to supermiddle being just too small. Yet we're supposed to believe that a 50 lbs/approx 6 inch differential makes no difference. Dempsey wouldnt even be a freaking heavyweight in this modern era. Hes the same size as Hopkins on fight night. Why do you think the cruiserweight division was even established???? 6'1 is a very generous size for Dempsey by the way,Ive seen numerous reports give him as 5'10. Theres a reason the last 20 years has basically been dominatd by guys massive guys. They have a physical advantage thats very hard to overcome. You have to be a massively superior boxer to overcome it. The Klitschkos, Lewis, Bowe were all 6'5+. I doubt we'll ever see another 6 foot champ again. In fact, ill be surprised if we see one under 6'2. If we do ever see another 205lbs, 6 foot heavyweight champion, Ill gladly admit I was wrong.
You're a ****ing idiot if you can see Rahman and McCall blast him out of there and not give stellar fighters like Frazier, Louis, Ali, Liston, and Foreman a solid chance to do the same. Size isn't everything, boxing styles haven't changed since the '30s, and contrary to your belief, there are fighters today that are even more crude than Dempsey. And Jesse Owens was running a 9.4 in the 100 yard dash. Asafa Powell, one of the best 100m sprinters around these days, ran a 9.05 in the 100 yard. That's not significantly better for someone who a few generations' time should have made a super athlete unbeatable by lesser mortals from years gone by.atsch
Lewis was not much bigger than Foreman. An inch taller and 10 pounds heavier in his prime. Also,Lewis hit as hard? Since when? Lewis was a boxer puncher not a puncher! Lewis had a strong right hand and Foreman had strong both hands with KO power in any punch thrown from any angle. Please! Some of you actually believe that the later a guy was born, the better he was. No,there was talent in all of the decades. How many KO's did Lewis have again? Was it less than 68? Yeah,I thought so. If Lewis hit as hard then why did Holyfield say Foreman and Bowe hit him the hardest? Lennox Lewis is the King of Overrated champions. Fought in a **** era against old Americans and would be killed in the 70's easy. Ali beats him,Foreman,Larry Holmes,Frazier,Quarry etc. Joe Louis beats Lennox as well as Marciano,Dempsey,Prime Tyson,Prime HW Holyfield etc.
