I know he always talks about fighting "smaller guys" but why won't he just fight Martinez in a rematch first? The first fight was great and so should a second fight between the two. There's an article I read about it on bs.com.
Because he knows it's unlikely to get Pierre Benoist to score his fight again which is cruical if you want to get a decision you don't deserve.
Williams clearly doesn't see much money in a Martinez rematch, however he does see his riches in either Mayweather or Pac. Paul has fought the top competition for years, now it's time for him to make some money
Notice any fight that was Close Williams looks to move on as was the case in the Martinez and Margarito fights... Once Margarito beat Cotto he was all up for the rematch as is the case with Martinez, Sergio beat Pavlik and suddenly Williams wants that fight.... its pathetic that he thinks he has the right to pick and choose weather or not he should rematch these guys, I am sorry to say this but when your not really that well known in the sport and you have close fights like this and nobody with any big name will fight you, its best you do take the rematch and win by a wider margin so that you can develope a name for yourself.
Paul Williams should just move on to another wieght division and quit dicking around at 147, just take on dudes in other divisions......... That is why he is not getting big named fights he is looking in the wrong area.
I don't understand it, he has an opportunity to fight for the Middleweight title and he's stalling. So much for him being the most avoided fighter in boxing. There are no fights for him at 147, Floyd and Pac will not fight him. To much risk and not enough reward. I think the only fights for him are a Martinez rematch, a Margarito rematch or a Cintron rematch and maybe a fight with Clottey at 154 lbs. No point in a fight with Pavlik if there is no title at stake and I don't thinks it's a fight Kelly wants. If he did it would have happened already.
bob ayrum would find a way to put cotto back in the ring with margariTOE before he would even think of giving Williams a shot at that.
