He would of had to ko Pacquiao not just get by, even if he clearly won people would say Pacquiao was done. He would never get full credit off 1 fight, but it would set him up for bigger paydays.

First off Arum would have to know ahead of time that Pac-Bradley rematch wouldn't sell after the robbery. Worst case he still has Marquez. Bradley on the other hand good or bad still has more buzz off a robbery then if he would have gotten UD.

If Pac beat Bradley and left TR to make the Mayweather fight, what would Arum be left with out of this fight? Having Bradley beat Pac on the other hand could potentialy kill a Mayweather fight, make Pac believe that he needed to avenge this robbery, Draw interest in Bradley. Not to mention Pac may retire soon, Bradley is 28 and undefeated. You have to think how they would think before the fight not after in hindsight.

Truthfully before the fight I bet that it was going to be a draw as I thought that Bradley would do enough to not get embarrassed and Arum would make sure it was a draw so that nobody losses and Bradley could maintain his 0 while Pac could maintain his star p4p status.

 

It's to create an in-house arch rival in order for the public to shy away from Floyd-Pac. Suddenly Pac and Bradley have a story to sell. If it's a success, Floyd's name doesn't get mentioned as much and Arum makes a shitload of money from a Pac-Bradley trilogy. If this doesn't work there's always Pac-JMM served as a back up plan.

 

I agree, I was thinking about it today and both Pac and Mayweather had back to back Hoya & Hatton fights to pull them into lime light and it was the knockouts over Hatton that made fans appeal.

Bradley needs a knockout over someone like Khan to make him a star.

-Arum is retaliating for Pac's decision to keep Ariza after Ariza humiliated Bob Arum

Why Arum has done this.

Reason - Arum knows Pacquiao is coming to the end of his career and wants someone to succeed him so he chooses the undefeated Bradley.

Plan - Bradley beats Pacquiao which will enhance Bradley's name and status in hope to make him one of boxing's biggest stars.

What next for Pacquiao - No point risking a rematch with Bradley as if Pacquiao wins, Arum will be back to square 1. So apart from Floyd, what is the next biggest fight? JMM 4 which will sell BIG meaning more $$$ for Arum.

Conclusion - Pacquiao ends his career with a fight with Marquez. Arum is happy because he has a new cash cow, he never has to fight Floyd and Pacquiao obeys everything he says.

 

Bob knows Pacman is near retirement and their is no use riding the ship down.

Because he can get a **** load of casual fans angry as hell about this "robbery" to purchase a rematch and make plenty of money off of making the same fight twice. He's nearly out of Top Rank opponents for Pac to beat up and he gets to stretch out his completely in-house promotion for at least one more bout, likely two if Pac ****s Bradley up and gives cause for a rubber match, and everybody benefits except for Money May whom Pac should be fighting.
