Why would Bob Arum want margarito to lose?

I know it may seem obvious at first, but why do so many people claim this fight is going to be fixed? If Margo wins, it's not like Bob's out any money. He will promote an immediate rematch between pacquaio and margo that will do major ppv buys. If Margo beats pac again they can hype mayweather vs margarito and it would sell nearly as well as pac vs mayweather. By that time a year will have passed and Mayweather will be through with his vacation.

If pac wins a rematch then they can have a rubber match with mayweather fighting the winner. So why would Margo be told to take a dive?

Who says he's taking a dive?

Some people are just picking Pac to win the fight.

And you're right - in the end - Arum is the winner regardless.

I think he's got a good chance. Certainly more chance than Briggs has tomorrow. Its hard to say since he's been inactive for awhile and didn't handle mosely's speed very well. But I think pac's machismo will get him in an exchange with Margarito and he won't be able to weather the storm. Also if Margarito still has his legendary stamina that will keep him dangerous late in the fight.

Actually as I type this, it reminds me of people predicting how Gatti could beat mayweather and we all know how that turned out. So who knows, as they say, that's why they fight the fights.

Bob Arum knows how to make his boxers known. Pac, Cotto and Margarito are really popular fighters that Arum built up. As much as you might hate margarito people know who he is. If you ask average non-boxing fans they probably never heard of the other posssible oponents.

That's a good point, but since when has pacquaio been protected? He was a huge underdog vs DLH but they put him in there anyway, hatton was supposed to be too strong and 140 a bridge too far. Cotto was seen as a very dangerous opponent that could derail pacmans career. I'll give you the fact that Clottey was never seen as much of a threat, but overall it's not like pacman has been cherrypicked fighters.

Pac lays golden eggs because he fights dangerous opponents, not cause he's beating up tomato cans and Arum doesn't want him exposed.

It's only "fixed" if you hate Pac so much and have to somehow discredit his achievements.

    Pac hater
Pac wins: "It's fixed" , "Steroids"
    Pac loses: "Overated"

Pathetic. Whatever stops them from commiting suicide. :smoke

Margo doesn't have 1/2 of the selling potential that Pac has. It would almost be like death for Arum. The world wouldn't pay to see Margo land less than 50 punches against $!! Clear 120-108 on everybody judging!!:bbb

The world wouldn't pay to see TODAYS version of Margarito land less than 50 punches on Mayweather, that's true. But a Margarito that holds two impressive wins over the p4p number 1 fighter in the world vs a comebacking floyd mayweather? Call me crazy but I think it'd sell.

Also Floyd wouldn't have the PED excuse against Margarito. What's better for Arum, a 100 million dollar fight that will never happen, or a 50 million dollar fight that will happen?

l to become a superstar, how in the hell do you think Pac and Mayweather make it to the top.

As a matter of fact, Margarito has even more potential. He was a bigger draw than Pac and PBF before the DLH factor. And now thanks to Plastergate he is just as well known.

Mexican and latino fan base have been the biggest out there. having a Mexican beating Pac wont harm Arums interest. Pacs time is almost up, so its only logical for Arum to give a Mexican like Marg a shot.
