I think everyone figured he would rehydrate up to 154-160 as normal after the weigh-in. He probably didn't know it was a major problem until he fight day.

I believed he cut the weight so early to ensure he wouldn't risk weighing in over 147 and incurring the monetary penalties set by team Pac. As someone else has stated, he did claim he wanted to fight Hatton at 140 after the Pac fight, so maybe that also factored into his reasoning for doing it.

i think he doesn't want to come in heavy at the expense of speed. that was his strategy i think from what i remember .

The same could be said for Pacquiao.

Manny never faced a guy that weak from being drained.

that's oscar's fault. he simply understimated pacquiao and did trained properly. i remember floyd sr remarked that oscar doesn't even need to train to beat pacquiao.

I remember when this fight was announced, I said Oscar was gonna get his ass handed to him, he looked shot against Forbes but everyone kept saying how good Forbes is, and some actaully thought Forbes would take Berto's belt...:rofl:rofl:rofl the weight didn't do Oscar any favors BUT Father Time is what really kicked his ass, he should've took Margacheato at 154, he would've looked 10 yrs younger just like Shane.

The guy dieted down to the weight and was down on weight weeks before. Go do some research . Start with what his trainer for the fight had to say about the matter.
