Why would Floyd (5'8", 72") fight JMM (5'6.5", 67") but not Martinez (5'10", 75")?

I love how some of these assholes discredit Pac's win over Magarito because it was at catchweight 150 but then they want to make it look like a legit 154 lb. fight when talking about Pac fighting Martinez.

    Doc's dumbass logic:

Pac fought at JMW which was at 150 catchweight. It's okay for him to fight the middleweight champ at 154. There would be at least a 15 lb. difference come fight night.

Marquez fought at WW which was at 144 catchweight, but it's not okay for Pac to fight Marquez at 147. The weight difference on fight night between the two would most likely be 4 pounds at most.

    First, that's not Pacquiao's idea. That's Arum's idea.

    Why is that viable?

When Pacquaio and Marquez hydrates there will only be a 3 lbs difference between their weight. That's not a lot.

I'm certainly no Mayweather apologist, but Floyd is a small welterweight who could probably still make 140 if the price was right. His highest weigh-in weight ever was 150 pounds.

Sergio Martinez is a full-on middleweight. He entered the ring for his last fight weighing 170 pounds. That is the same weight as Taylor, Miranda, Pavliik, Zuniga, and others who were all considered BIG middleweights. Furthermore, Martinez is not a big name outside hardcore boxing circles. Floyd can fight guys his own size, and make more money doing it.

The larger question is this. Why won't Martinez add a mere 6 pounds to his already large frame, and sign a rematch with Pavlik at a weight where Pavlik is comfortable. Martinez does not plan to fight again until fall. Pavlik has a tune-up in a few weeks, and could be ready for Sergio by fall with no problems. Pavlik can bring more cash, and more notoriety to the ring than anyone else who actually wants to fight Martinez. Pavlik said, "I'd love for that fight to happen at that weight. I'd take that fight in a heartbeat." Martinez, on the other hand, continues to talk **** about fighters who belong 2 or 3 divisions under him, and refuses to even discuss a Pavlik rematch.

I like the fight...i think Floyd or Manny vs Sergio are good evenly matched fights. Mostly due to the size and power advantage the natrually bigger man has, while also working with a great set of natural gifts and talents. i wouldn't go as far as to say that sergio is just as talented and gifted as PAC and Floyd but he's one of the more talented fighters out there.

1.PPV dollars because of Latin American market and great chance to capitilize on America's 2 year absence of the best fighter in the sport.
    2. Also to prove how easily he could dominate the man who whooped Pacs ass 2x's!
    3. Great defensive skills check after being out of the sport (not gym) for 2 years!
4.And at the end of the day there's a total respect from Floyd of JMM's boxing ability and understanding of "The Sweet Science!"

Of course he does! He's old and wants to get paid. How many fights does he really have left in him at this age? He should go after Pac, Money, Cotto, Margacheato for revenge of the 1st fight. Somebody who'll bring some PPV dollars!

if either fighter wants to fight for the middle weight champion of the world then cudos to them.but why folks thinks its mandatory i have no idea.all that height and reach **** aint the problem martinez is big.loses to pw at 154 but koes him in 2nd at 160 not to mention going toe to toe with pavlik.little mofos dont do that.floyd at 33 stills weighs in under 150 pounds when they get into the ring, while fighters like ortiz come in at 160.hell manny comes in at what about 140 to 145 pounds fight night.you talking a get 20 to 25 pounds martinez has over both of them, not only that but he has some skills.so a bigger man with skill ? i think may and manny would rather fight each other then marvilla.i think floyd beats marvilla not sure about manny.floyd will box him and manny will fight him.the fighter goes to bed before the boxer most of the time.

The problem is that no one on your list wants to fight Martinez. It's easy to talk about big pay days, but when the potential opponents don't want or need the fight, it means nothing.

Pac and PBF can fight each other, and probably set all time PPV records.

Margarito and Cotto are Planning on a rematch.

If Pavlik looks good and does his job on May 7th, he'll be right back in the 7 figure bracket. Who else, that actually wants to fight, can offer Martinez a career high payday?

You are no Floyd apologist you just hate Martinez for beating the **** out of your boy :). He'll take the fight at the end there are no other big fights for him. I don't think that he'll prefer to go to SMW directly.

How do you now that?? There was no official info about that before the Mosley fight. He was about the same size as Mosley and Mosley comes around 160.
