Why would Garcia choose to fight Spence over Loma?

    I'm still really confused about this decision. Why would you risk jumping in weight against a puncher like Spence when you can make history and fight arguably the best fighter at your weight class? It doesn't make any sense, wouldn't you want to face Loma first and then move up to face Spence after? My guess is that it won't look as bad if he were to lose to a bigger guy in Spence compared to losing to Loma at his own weight.
    But if he were to lose against Spence at WW and then fight Loma later on he would have to cut down weight to do so, which would be very bad for Mikey.

    because loma does not want a mikey fight right now and mikey wants to get on with building a legacy. i think mikey and loma fight end of next year.

    I understand that he wants to build his legacy by going up but if there's already a glorified fighter waiting for you at your own weight class that everyone wants to see him face then he should just keep pursuing that fight instead of jumping up and potentially losing.

    i just said loma does not want it. you want mikey to fight some bum while he waits for loma to decide hes ready?

    When did Loma ever say that he doesn't want Mikey? If anything it's Loma whose been wanting that fight more than Mikey.

    loma was asked about fighting mikey next to unify, his response was that he was not ready for a guy like mikey because of his injury, which he would test in his next fight. his fans love to ignore this about the situation and think its "fake news".

    Because he sees more holes in the game of Spence that he can possibly exploit and an outside chance he can pull off the win, and if he loses, he can always say, he was way too big and hey I dared to be great..... but with Loma, not as much to exploit, and even if he does manage to win, as far as optics go, it won't be as impressive looking.

    Also wouldn't you all rather have a Leonard-Hagler as opposed to a Canelo-GGG moment?

    Because losing to Spence doesn't hurt his career, everyone expects him to lose to a bigger skilled guy.
    Losing to tiny Loma who could still make 130 would be a big blow to his P4P status.

    Reminiscent of Khan jumping up to take on Canelo as a desperate measure to avoid Brook.

    Sensible in a way as it's kinda a no lose scenario, but for us fans this is simply a waste of time. Main beneficiary is in-house Haymon.

    calm down. ive said before he has every right to make sure hes 100% before facing mikey. that doesnt put the onus on mikey to wait him out.

    Why did Leonard choose to fight Hagler over Pryor? Maybe, he's a fan of head trauma.
