Why would Golden Boy put Canelo in with Trout unless they were very, very confident?

ditto uberstar: this is an awesome fight; maybe one or both will be found not up to speed due to their unproven nature, but I see no reason to fault either of these fighters for stepping up.

in my opinion cotto was washed up and acting soft since pre-mayweather. he did land shots on mayweather, but even mayweather admitted he was experimenting w a more fan friendly brawling style. against trout, cotto just looked sad, and his cry baby antics after the fight were just despicable. canelo is younger and hungrier than cotto was. i'm goin with canelo in this one...

The ratio of risk to reward is much different for the two fighters. Trout has more to gain and less to lose. By far.

if thats the case, why isnt bradley, jmm(5th paq fight withstanding), devon, maidana, thurman, brook and rusian calling out floyd?

it seems that they would have far more to "gain" and "less to lose."

    as you say, "By far."

trout, an undefeated fighter who stands to lose millions if he were to be ko'd or lose badly to alvarez, called out canelo because he and his camp broke down the film and feel that they can beat him.

what you are insinuating is simply canelo nuthugging at its finest.

you would have to be a complete idiot to think that canelo having more to lose than trout had anything to do with austin wanting to fight canelo.

Canelo is far more marketable than Trout. This can't even be debated. He definitely has more to lose. Get back to me when you can walk into a Big-5 or Scheels and see an 8' Austin Trout Under Armor poster.

i agree that canelo has more to lose financially.

but exactly what has that got to do with trout calling out canelo?

austin trout cares about how much money is in his pocket and could give a rats ass on how much money is in canelo alvarezs pocket.

there is only one reason why trout and his camp called out canelo and it has absolutely and unequivocally nothing to do with austin having a higher risk to benefit ratio than canelo.

he called out canelo because he thinks that he can beat him.

you dont call out a guy in boxing because you have a higher risk to benefit ratio than your opponent.

"Yo Al, lets call out canelo because our risk to benefit ratio is higher than his."

"that going to help me win the fight."

pretty stupid if you think about it.

GB usually doesn't protect their cash cows, they've actually been criticized for throwing their young promising fighters at the deep end. They tried to match Canelo with Williams who was high risk/very low reward. Khan and Mares have been matched tough and Ortiz fought Maidana early in his career.

I don't think trout has the power to seriously hurt canelo. I think trout will out box him for the first half of the fight but then I see canelo stopping trout late.

and youre missing my point entirely.

trout called out saul because he thinks that he can beat him and it had nothing to do with austin having a higher risk to benefit ratio than canelo.

if he beats alvarez, he probably wont be making any more money in his next fight which means that he will have the same risk to benefit ratio fighting lara, vanes, molina, kirkland and rosado than he wouldve had if he never wouldve fought canelo.

im pretty sure that sergio is not going to make anymore money fighting murray now after beating jr than if he wouldve fought martin before jr.

sometimes people need to take the pink **** out of their mouth to see things clearly.

austin trout only called out canelo because he has a higher risk to benefit ratio than alvarez and not because he thinks that he can beat the future hall-of-famer and monster, wrecking machine. i mean, who in their right mind would have the nerve to call out the great canelo alvarez who knocks people out just by looking at them? couldnt be because they think that they could beat him, right? it must be the risk to benefit ratio or something of this nature.

good grief you guys are ****ing delusional.

GBP was backed into a corner... Canelo was supposed to fight the winner of Cotto-Trout.. They thought they were going to make a PPV with Cotto and Canelo.. Trout ruined the party!

It would of been a blatant duck... But Canelo showed some heart and stepped up to the plate!

  15. People are getting tired of GBP spoon feeding Canelo, he's been a paper champ for two years and hasn't faced a live dog yet. His two best opponents Cintron & Mosley were done and dusted long before they fought him.

I'm sure Canelo himself feels like he's been held back and is probably not happy about it. You can only sell Wolf tickets for so long, sooner or later you're gonna have to step it up and see if the kid is as good as advertised.
