There really is no benefit to it....not for Joe at least. Joe won and that is the bottom line. Whether or not most agree with the decision the fact remains that in the history books it will be a "W" over Bhop.

Why risk loosing to the man you already have a "W" over if you are looking at retirement? Not to mention Bhop gave Joe a HELL OF A BATTLE where many believe Joe escaped with a gift "W"....not that it was a robbery by any means which ever man you called the fight for....

Bhop would beneifit b/c he'd have the chance to revese a "Loss" that he felt he never deserved in the first place. Joe should just try to win against Jone Jr and retire....go out on top...I would. But I don't think he'll pull off the "W" over jones for some reason. And I'm not going off of logic...just a gut feeling that Jones is gonna surprise the world.

    Are you insane?

Hopkins has bitched soooo much about the Calzaghe fight it's untrue. :-(

Add that to the FACT that the punchstats clearly show that Calzaghe outlanded Hopkins nearly 2 to 1 - Although I suppose they were all slaps or there's some kind of conspiracy, right? :patsch

You're so wrong it's hilarious - Then you go on talking about how folks talking sense get 'owned' by you. :verysad

    Are you 13 years old?

    Wake up, dude.

He said he'd never lose to a white boy.

He did.

What a ****ing idiot for saying that in the first place. But hey, never mind - it's OK 'cos he'll never lose to a white boy twice?

    Priceless.

    :yep

Or the exact opposite....having such a close win that many felt should have gone Bhops way would be a GREAT Reason NOT to take a rematch.

Hopkins gave Calzaghe his closest fight for many years. The fight could have been scored in many different ways, depending on whether you were scoring mostly for effective clean punching (of which there was very little) or for activity, workrate and aggression. Calzaghe certainly did not deserve not to win. However, it was his least convincing performance (ever), on a night in which, in my opinion, Hopkins underperformed. A rematch might convince more people Calzaghe was indeed the better fighter at this stage - a better fighter than one of the best fighters of their generation, not least.

Loved it the way it was put if that last time left a bad taste in someone's mouth ( ghonorhea being one), it was obviously on Calzaghe's... Joe predicted he would have BH's name in his resume as a 7th round TKO and Hopkins quite surprisingly made it a tough, hard fight for Joe who recognised it to Sky Sports right after the fight and in his way to the locker room. Joe doesn't want any more of that or of anything in particular other than outworking RJJ and retire to his personal Eden of Glory never to come back.

I don't think (despite what he says) any mammal outside of a bear, horse or gorilla could drag Bernard into the ring with Joe again.
