when he could make twice or three times as much in a rematch against Hatton, Pac, Cotto, Shane?? Doesn't make sense to me. Marquez is a tough fighter don't get me wrong and I think he deserves a shot against Mayweather but from Floyds standpoint, why?

Tune-up fight that's why. He's been away for almost 2 years he wants a big name respected fighter and JMM fits the bill. Not to mention JMM called him out and wanted the fight.

His camp is probably looking at it as a tuneup against a bad ass from a lower division.

I've got a feeling we'll be seeing Cotto Mayweather early next year.

Marguez has more then enough skill for floyd to measure his position in the sport. Floyd's been out a year, Im pretty sure if marquez gives him more than a handful trouble Floyd will more then likely re-evaluate his return to the ring.

Tuneup. Floyd will still make a good chunk of cash and he doesnt see JMM as a huge threat, allthough id love to see JMM win a UD. Hes got a chance.

Because Marquez is in no way a Welterweight (he had 49 out of 55 fights at Featherweight).

And has never fought above 135. Floyd is taking this fight because it's a way to add another name to his resume and a whole bunch of other millions to his bank account without risking his 0.

Mayweather always takes fights against opposition he knows he can beat, in this case he will stick and move for 12 rounds against a featherweight .
