Why would Miguel Cotto take on such a dangerous threat in Antonio Margarito?

I just thought about this. Essentially, in the wake of Floyd Mayweather's retirement, Miguel Cotto became the de facto #1 fighter in the welterweight division. Now, the reigning, defending, and undefeated WBA champion is taking on a big threat in Antonio Margarito. Looking at how both disposed of their opponents in April, both were set on a collision course this summer. However, many experts stated that Margarito is one of the most feared boxers in the WW division. Plus, when the contract and fight negotiations were proceeding, it was the signature of Miguel Cotto that the two parties and Top Rank were waiting for. Is the fact that Cotto did not sign right away for this fight called the Battle a sign of weakness? Is there any meaning behind it? Or was it after some battle planning that Cotto finally saw a weakness in Margarito's style or approach that made him sign on to the fight? In addition, could he also see that destroying such a top opponent solidify his grip as the king of the WW division? Thoughts on this topic...?

Because this fight will be far easier than expected, wait till it's on and see for yourself.

Cotto was also vocal in the press about how "..He had his chance to fight me.." and that sort of thing every time he was asked about Margarito in the last year. For a guy who always said "..I fight whoever the company will put in front of me.." that was a little out of character.

Top Rank wanted this matchup, not Miguel Cotto. That seems obvious.

He got backed into a corner by Top Rank. Yep. I've heard some people claim they're setting Cotto up. Some guy has a video on youtube talking about it and another Cotto fan has a video entitled "**** Bob Arum."

Because Cotto knows he is to good, he is going to sicken Tony with bodyshots and stop him late, hes a different class.

He could have went a million different ways and pulled a floyd so please don't discredit Cotto as if had no choice.
