Why would Roach use Castillo?

Sparring with an experienced guy like Castillo is just what Pacquiao could use. I can only see him being a positive addition to the team.

I doubt Cotto could possibly find a sparring partner as close to Pacquaio's style as Castillo is to Cotto's style. Castillo is not Cotto, but is GREAT sparring for someone about to face Cotto.

also castillo got mugged by hatton who have never fought someone so dirty and was shoved and hit all night. That was the first time castillo even got koed instead of a ref stoppage or on cuts. castillo is extremely durable and knows how to survive.

Doesnt Castillo and Cotto match up size wise?
Plus dont they throw the same hook to the body?

although castillo is way past his best ,he is still a tough journeyman whos been fighting at welter and that alone is better than most sparring partners not to mention that hes still a very good body puncher, remember they are only sparring a few rounds at a time,i think this is one of the best sparring partners they could have gotten. A top contender most likely is not gonna be Pacs sparring partner, so castillo is the next best thing.

    ?? Is this for real.
Castillo is probably the best sparring partner Pac could get for this fight. He is a was a top fighter, bottom line.

    Why would he not?

Castillo always had a fine technique, his left hook resembles Cotto's and that left hook to the body is somewhat similar to Cotto's.

Just because he lost to Hatton he does not deserve to be a sparring partner? What the hell are you on about?

Lots of experience and very skilled I guess, it's sparring so Pac ain't going to to be going for the KO

Becuase Castillo brings a wealth of experience and has alot of the skills Cotto has.....very good technique...great body attack...underrated boxing skills and alot of heart.....who would be better??? He doesnt possess the hand speed of Cotto or the lateral movement but he'd really help preparing Pac-Man for Cotto.

castillo is still very good for a sparring partner. You realize its very hard to get top quality guys for sparring. Its not like Pac is going to get margarito or paul williams to his training camp.

The only issue with castillo is he isnt a natural 147 guy. They might be better off with a young 147 guy but it isnt a terrible opponent

to make cotto THINK that's who they're using???
Can't take anything on that show seriously, it is nothing more than entertaining marketing designed to hype the fight and lure people who might not know about the fight to buy it.

Castillo is a great choice for a sparring partner here. He applies good pressure, cuts the ring off well, and does excellent bodywork. Maybe not the best Cotto prototype, but he brings some much needed elements and experience.

Don't know what LJC has left to imitate a welterweight Cotto - probably not enough.

My choice would've been Saul Alvarez. But Freddy knows his stuff. And sparring... is just sparring.
