If Floyd's opponent is as small as JMM then he won't need to fully utilize his reach advantage.

My point was that even if a fighter gets fight up next to Floyd, making their shorter reach an advantage and Floyd's longer reach a disadvantage, then Floyd will just dodge their flurries. Like in the Marquez fight.

if resume is not relevant in the pound for pound ratings than why are we always talking about their fights when figuring them out?

Resume and performance are what matters. Andy Lee would beat Nonito Donaire......so what. It is what you have done in the ring. Maybe Valero would have beaten everyone from 47 down. He doesn't belong on the top of the list, or didn't. Your next door neighbor drinking beer sitting on his couch, if he got in shape, maybe he would kick everyone's ass.....he isn't on there either. Floyd's resume is inferior to Pacquiao's. He dropped the ball, refused the biggest challenges, retired, refused challenges, wrestled, refused more fights, retired, and refused more big matches. Pac went on a rampage.

Of course Pac is #1. Before the Mosley fight the argument for Mayweather being #2 was a lot weaker.

Not if the opponent is capable of throwing punches in bunches at very high workrate and that opponent is also capable of throwing 4-5-6 punch combos coming from weird unexpected angles, I'm not sure if Floyd can dodge all those punches.

But Floyd is a defensive master so who knows...

Because the best weight of the P4P#1 and the FOTD is at 140lbs. It speaks volume if he is still very competitive at 147lbs.

I dunno. PAC might be contented hitting Floyd's gloves, arms, elbows, shoulder, etc. Anything he can hit on Floyd.

Pacq will hardly even hit Mayweather. This fight is gonna embarrass the boxing world in the eyes of casual boxing fans. They are gonna wonder how this fight was so hyped.

no i mean he wont be givin a chance to hit anything at times...he wont be able to get off those normal 3-4 hit combos he is used to....he will land some shots though dont get me wrong but that high work rate you speak of will not be there....

Mayweather didn't step up consistently enough and fight the toughest challenges for him when the public was crying out for him to do so. There were plenty of "oh **** he might lose this one!" type of fights for Mayweather to take, but he didn't take them as often as Pac did. The public doesn't like that. The promoters don't like that and the media doesn't like that. Pacquiao, on the other hand, took them. If Floyd had stepped up more, maybe he would have won the award. He wrestled and retired twice. He dropped the ball.

Manny also won Fighter of the Year three times vs one for Floyd. And he straight up deserved it more than Floyd each of those three years. It makes sense that Manny won based on resume and performance.

I think that high workrate will still be there (that's how PAC fights) but scoring punches could be low. PAC might just hit Floyd's gloves, arms, elbows, shoulder.

yea i get what your saying but ithink his opponents allow Pac to fight like that because there always there...even in his close fights his opponents are there to be hit....how many fighters have u seen actually use the clinch against Pac?

Floyd will use a lot of potshots that will almost always end up with a break by the ref....forces fighters to reset...thus reseting Pac's rhthym....i dont kno there is just alot Floyd does and can do that will cut that work rate by a good margin.
