Fighters years ago were taught the value of the body punch. This young fighter is head-hunting the whole fight and then decides to go lower [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ4neWprwEs[/ame]
I saw your title and thought you were gonna comment on this one. The kid can bang and he feints that left just enough to create an opening and close the show. Nice little piece of offense. I think he just needed to calm down and get back to his basics.
I don't think body punching is that much of a lost art to be honest, it is just slightly less prevalent, mainly due to the amateur scoring system.
he through that same left to the body throughout the first round. this guy Ismayl Sillakh seems to have skill in bodypunching [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJILRA3DvWo[/ame] then theirs meguel cotto, at least he used to be. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDLWMajcr0c[/ame] then their is Fernando Guerrero vs ishe smith all bodypunching
They learn it more as they get experienced. Hearns did not learn to throw body punches until after Hagler really. His left to the body became as effective as his right cross.
all the great fighters today know the importance of punching to the body but the heavyweights in the past 20 years all fight with that upright outside boxing jab style that doesnt make it convenient for them to go to the body (big generalization)
He was throwing them before the Hagler fight - against Duran for example. He went to the body more in his later career which is true. I think the Shuler fight is a great display of bodypunching.
