AJ's got a ton of worthy contenders to choose from, who would all make interesting fights. So does Whyte. At this stage, the only top 50 HW Whyte has faced is AJ. Its offensive to even suggest that he be given a rematch this year, with the only thing going for him being he gave AJ about 10 seconds of grief. Let him build up his resume, and if it proves that he's a legit top 10-20 HW, by actually beating some top 10-20 hw's, then he a rematch is something that can be talked about. At this stage, it would actually be the worst title defense in years. It would be like Wilder rematching Sconiers in a title defense.

They wont rematch. Does anybody other than Whyte really want it? If Whyte got his act together, got fit and started knocking big names out it would be a different story but the score was settled quite clearly in the last fight. No unfinished business there.

Stiverne would be the perfect fight.

Whyte did better than Martin but his case for a rematch is about equal in that neither satisfies the minimum requirement threshold.

Here's an idea: Whyte VERSUS Martin to earn a crack at vengeance? Neither just deserves it sight unseen without doing something.

That would be a good fight, but I think the winner would still need one more top 20ish win to warrant consideration. How about winner of that fight vs Pulev Chisora loser :think

I don't see why at this stage. If Whyte can rebuild and earn a shot again, great, I'm all for it. Whilst he did have his successes Whyte was fairly put to rest that night and will need to improve if the result would change.

    dulhaupus/pulev/chisora/ jennings/breazale/

    etc etc

decent top 30 journeyman / joshua needs rounds
    my pick dulhaupus
at only 1 fight ever going past 3 rounds joshua needs the experience of going rounds before he hets in with fury/wilder / even parker.

he might blow dulhaupus away but the man is tough.

Let's see how whyte's career pans out over the next year or so. If he can get into contention by beating some decent fighters then he could jump the queue to fight AJ but I don't see the point for an immediate rematch just cause of how the first fight went

Luis Concepción was destroyed even more viciously by Hernán Márquez in their rematch, didn't stop him from wanting a rubber match. :good

(and he actually beat him, 3rd time was the charm)

Whyte needs to get off his ass and earn it.... He isn't planning on fighting until June, and it's highly doubtful that it will be anything other than a tune up.

Try giving it another watch. Joshua landed a hard 1-2. Martin went down. Another 1-2, and down again. Fairly plain cause-and-effect relationship there. Not too sure where Martin "quitting" supposedly comes into play.

Lots of boxers have done that. We've seen countless guys ride a count and lose the gambit. Doesn't count as quitting.

    It was straight forward quitting.
