But the point I'm making is that resumes have nothing to do with it. It feels odd to suggest that but they don't. Fights are PPV worthy based on how much money they make. That is literally all that matters. It's like acting. I doubt anyone thinks the Rock is the best actor in the world. But if you said 'this guy has won an Oscar, an Emmy, a Tony and he's getting ten grand and the Rock is getting ten million for his latest film' the only logical response is that's because more people buy tickets to watch him. You're absolutely spot on that you have a choice not to buy it, and if you don't think it's good enough value, you won't buy. That and that alone makes a fight PPV or not.
YEAH, SURE. Yes, the reason this fight is on PPV is because of purses and not because The Used Car Salesman Eddie is intent on milking every drop of coin he can from the gullible ****wits aka the PPV Mugs.
He could put this on without PPV money. He would generate more than enough money from the gate to pay Whyte and Chisora alone. If he can't then he is massively overpaying them which means we have to pay more.
Speaking of used cars your local garage could sell a car currently going for twenty grand for fifteen. Why don't they?
Resumes have Nothing to do with it from a promoters point of view, he's the one trying to make the money and the resume makes it an easier sell. Resume has a lot to do from my point of view, the chap who maybe buying it or maybe not. Delboy in particular has a poor resume in respect to asking me to fork out 20qid. His resume isn't one that commands a lot of money imo. I understand your point..fundamentally a promoter has to sell a ppv but he needs tools to sell it, he needs spiel. Having a good resume is part of them tools/spiel. You are correct, nothing matters except the promoters ability to make profit, that is what defines ppv worthy, in the eye of the promoter but in the eye of the punter being value for money us what matters. Some of us value 20qid and how we spend it, some dont care that much really. Are you happy to spend the money is what the punter asks himself.
The benchmark fight for a PPV is Tony Dosh v Wlad - any fight of a lower standard is simply boxers, promoters and Broadcasters simply fleecing the thick PPV mugs. Dull Boy Pakora v Dullian Whyte headlining a PPV for the Fat Pudding Bragging Rights Title - that should be an undercard fight if on PPV.
Have you got the lottery numbers please, oh prescient one. You crack on and pay for PPV's, I certainly won't at this level.
Thing is, you can still complain about it, because it shouldn't be on PPV and you shouldn't have to forgo seeing it otherwise. It's not really about choice as enough people still buy it, keeping the system alive. You can chose not to buy it, but you're still getting screwed over.
Mate, I'm so tired of people missing the point. Have argued for a long time that the more people accept and happily fork out for substandard PPV cards, then the more normal weaker cards will become. It's the same crap coming back every time "you don't have to pay, you could split it, what can't you afford it lol", constantly missing the point people are trying to make. Look at the Brook-Gavin card. That was excellent. Main event was a bit shite but the card propping it up was superb. Now we get area level fighters like Allen and Benn but that doesn't seem to matter because you don't HAVE to pay for it...
Correct - never bought a PPV yet and never will. Will be watching both PPV cards at the same time and have never missed a fight I wanted to watch.
Seen a clip on Sky Sports News of the Woods/Mickelson presser. They play tonight in a one on one $15 PPV golf match. Mickelson: "It's not about the money, it's about bragging rights." Woods: "He's going to pull off shots never seen before. I have to find a way to overcome that." Wow! Just Wow! Is Eddie Hearn promoting this golf match? They even done a head to head!!
