Just showing he has no confidence in himself, otherwise he'd be out there shouting about the fight , upping his profile, hyping the **** out of this fight on every youtube channel, tv slots etc etc.. but nah, he just stays silent, the only thing he never does, ever!.. Guys a clown not to promote this fight, and even more so not to even attempt to promote himself for the biggest fight of his career and the biggest fight he'll ever net, How dumb can you get, like really, this is the stupidest thing he could possibly do, and he's smashing it. lol
There was me thinking a mandatory was getting 8 million quid with a potential 4 million on top if he wins. 12 million quid - screwed over apparently.
I do know the game and I know that everyone on the other side of the table starts to benefit when Whyte starts to play his role as the villain in this saga but he doesn’t. Im not a Whyte fan, I actually dislike him if anything and called him a bottle job for not speaking out once this purse bid was won but it’s just common sense as to why he’s not helping with the promotion. Also Warren, Bob, Fury and the WBC said he’s not a draw and got no profile which is why they managed to navigate a 20% purse to Whyte so I don’t understand why they now think it’s so important he helps to build this fight.
I’m not a huge Whyte fan but I see his point. And hope he sticks to it with Arum and Warren trying to publicly shame him. Arum has said promote the fight and I’ll share some of the upside. Ask all his other fighters if he does that. Whyte is mandatory and gets the mandatory split. He will have certain requirements in terms of press but the only way he gets more money is if he wins the fight. So if he feels his best way to do that is to keep his head down and focus on training then what is the harm in that. He doesn’t benefit from the PPV numbers being huge, only by winning the fight
I think his actions are a paradox - complaining about money but not wanting to co-operate to increase his earnings - but in other ways I think it's quite smart. There is no way Whyte would win in a war of words with Tyson Fury. There is no way Whyte would keep his cool during an extended press conference run. Before the final fight, Wilder took the middle ground of attending the press conferences but saying nothing, but he finally snapped during fight week. Fury is clearly fuelled in at least a small way by those interactions. Whyte's seemingly going a step further than Wilder. I know it's a long time ago now, but we saw how Whyte acted versus Joshua both in the build-up and when provoked (punch after the bell). He and his people will know that and might just be making the best all-round decision to focus on the action in the ring. TLDR: as a fan I hate it, but if I were him I'd probably do the same.
I understand that, personally think its ridiculous. I was just commenting on you saying its rhe job of the promoters to promte the fight and not the fighters. That isnt really true as the promoters need the fighters to promote the fight. Imagine a build up where it was just frank or bob doing an open workout haha
Some of the things which are irrelevant to the question of whether Whyte should help promote this fight... Where you think his boxing level is... What your assessment is of him as a person... What you think he does or doesn't deserve financially from the fight... Things which are relevant: Contract obligations. Financial incentives. I've read so much crap about Whyte recently. We all know what the WBC is about and how they've dicked him on the split. Whatever you think of him as a boxer or human being he's paid the required amount to hold their tinpot silver belt now for years on the expectation they would fulfill their end of the bargain when it came to a title shot. Instead they've once again seemingly sided with the incumbent and his promotion team and given Whyte the short end of the stick. So why act surprised that Whyte isn't jumping through hoops to increase the revenue of the very people that have shafted him? He probably doesn't want to share a studio with them in case they pick his pockets again. Having said that, this dispute has got people talking about the fight so indirectly it can be used as promotion. Build a narrative around 'he's too scared to face Fury in the studio' etc. and someone somewhere will lap it up. So maybe they run with that unless they want to dip into their 80% purse share and come up with a reason for Whyte to participate.
Biggest dosser bum diva ever produced on these shores. With a giant chip on his shoulder. He's getting overpaid but acting like his JSA was cut off.
Well, there's professionalism for a start but Whyte manages fighters. If he refuses to promote this he will have burned bridges with Queensbury, Top Rank, BT Sport, ESPN and MTK for the sake of a few interviews.
Probably because he’s guaranteed an upside off Sky Box Office / Matchroom from PPV buys. If this fight does 400k buys or 2 million buys he gets the exact same basic. So I don’t make him wrong.
