Oh ok, so did Whyte want Parker to get careless and end up how he did when he fought joshua? Just like Parker said, he fought a cautious smart fight, sure he lost but he did not get beat up and knocked the FCUK out Like anybody else we can all criticize a fighters performance in certain fights, but one thing i would never ever do to any fighter regardless of who they are, regardless of how good or bad they are, label them a coward ever. If you say Whyte not rematching Del Boy was purely a business decision then that is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but to agree with his statement that he was a coward is quite pathetic really. Any man that steps between those ropes, and stands in that corner on his own waiting for that first bell to go is no coward.
Granted, coward is probably the wrong word to describe Parker losing without putting more on the line, he fought safe - KNOWING he would lose (by round 10-12). I don’t no what the right word is to describe this, stupid maybe. You mention that Parker might’ve ended up like Whyte did, yes true, but he also MIGHT have KOd AJ, whereas there was 0% chance of him winning on points.
Parker wasn't a coward, but he wasn't brave either. More like lukewarm and complacent. If he was running all night and not attempting to engage then you may have an argument for calling his performance cowardly. There is no doubt he attempted to take a chance early on before finding out first hand that the ref had other ideas and from that moment he stopped trying, believing it was futile. You can just imagine the blood draining from his face (which will also happen to Povetkin) the moment he has to see the ref scold him for landing a punch on Joshua's chin.
Joshua was also fairly cautious in that fight. I'm sure if Joshua was coming at Parker more, Parker would also have thrown more. It was just that kind of fight. If Whyte genuinely believes what he's saying he's even more idiotic than he looks. As for the fight, Parker schools him of course.
Whyte is an idiot and that Browne win had totally gone to his head.. Really he beat a bloke who was depressed, overweight and didn't have a great camp... Plus the fact he hadn't had a meaningful fight since 2015 and was 38 yo... Parker is young, fit hungry, strong and active. Plus his last fight the competition was far greater than Whyte.. Calling Parker a coward is really a ****s act and hopefully Parker knock that over confident idiot out...
Yeah my apologies, you're right, maybe I switched off, now you've said it I swear I remember him saying before AJ something about him being better after surgery or it was mentioned in a preview show. My old tired memory is going LoL
With regards to the "coward" comment, I think it's the wrong word but the right sentiment. But I also understand when some say AJ was too cautious, the referee didn't help but that is another subject. Parker didn't press the fight, didn't really commit, I didn't understand it then and I don't understand it now. If Parker had rattled AJ, wobbled him early and was just being patient, safety first and hoping to land another big shot I might have understood a little bit but he can't have thought he was winning, after 8-9 rounds of that surely he must have thought "I've got to go for broke here" But he didn't, he seemed happy and comfortable to just go 12, be a respectable loser, be first man to take Joshua the distance. He just didn't have that "win at all costs" mentality, I can't call that cowardice but it's a mental flaw of some kind.
I'm not sure how much I buy the parker injury, according to him he got injured in the takam fight and had surgery prior to the joshua fight.
Yeah I know what you mean, he decides to have "necessary" surgery after having another 5 fights, it sounds a little bit off.
Sounds to me like whyte is really believing his own hype after those wins over shot helenius and browne I really think he’s going to walk on to something big from Parker, he’ll get tagged early and helped back on to his stool
Someday Joseph Parker will come clean about his chronic hand injuries. The reason he doesnt have pop anymore in his shots and has not stopped anyone in years is because of his hands. I expect Whye to get a Chisora style gift UD over Parker. At HW at the elite level if you dont have power- your career with plateau out and thats what we are seeing with Parker.
