I would agree. I’d probably go with a 5 million guarantee, with an upside, in case it doesn’t generate what you say. Personally I wouldn’t offer a great split though, if the rumours of an 80/20 mandatory split are true, should Whyte choose to wait for a mandatory shot.
It's sad when fighters price themselves out of fights and then turn around later and claim they are being ducked. Whyte should sign the dotted line and get on with it; he's not a mandatory, nor is he a belt holder coming in with any kind of leverage. He's crawled his way back to the top and finally he's being given a shot at redemption from THE Champion who already beat him and he's saying no because he wants more money? I remember when Winky Wright beat Tito Trinidad he was angling for a fight with Oscar De La Hoya. Golden Boy offered him $6 million plus points on any PPV over 650K buys. Winky refused on the basis that most high profile De La Hoya opponents get $10 million plus when they face Oscar, why should he get any less. Long story short, he passed on the very winnable De la Hoya fight and never again in his career did he get an offer as high as $6 million dollars.
You're right and Whyte has proven himself again defeating undefeated at the time Lucas Browne and Victory over Joseph Parker
This. Wright could of won that fight and then would have made more in a rematch vs DHL. These fighters seem to miss the point that if you beat AJ you then have much higher earning potential and leverage going forward.
The irony being he was criticising Wilder for doing exactly the same thing when he was offered a career high pay day to fight him.
There’s never much consistency to these things. Wilder should have taken that money, he’d KO Whyte. Whyte should be taking the money now, his next fight isn’t gonna be worth much and he might lose that chance.
That`s the point I was making, but I do think he`s some way off of the top, he`s a lot slower than the top 3 heavies and all 3 would beat Chisora far more impressively than Whyte did, Fury is far better than he was when he beat Chis and would toy with Whyte now.
Wright would have had a far better chance of beating DLH than Whyte does of beating AJ, silly fighter indeed.
