Once upon a time Boxers used to pay for their shot at greatness. Now people want their shot at greatness and they want the champion to pay for them to get that shot. Joshua well over paid the champion Martin to get his chance, but now these fighters want to be overpayed BY the champion to get theirs. Good offer or no good offer, Lowball or no lowball the money for Whyte, Miller, Wilder, Fury are all for more money they have ever earnt before, all for more money than they would even get close to making against anybody else including each other (apart from Whyte 5 mill isnt massive) and the chance at the glory, at all the belts. If they dont want to take that opportunity then thats up to them but i dont see why Joshua or Hearn should be taking the flack for it. The flack should be going to all those other fighters that wanted to talk smack about Joshua, claim they would beat Joshua but then when given the chance to back it up they dont take it. Ive heard people scream LOWBALL many a time in this sport, they usually say "are you kidding? I could earn that fighting such a body or whats his name". Can any of these Heavyweights say that? Can Wilder get what Joshua offered him facing Fury? NO hes already tried. Can Fury get that facing Parker? NO. So how lowball is this lowball?
Previous purses with AJ have been around that figure as described in the media and by promoters. Whyte fight is no different... if anything it would be more popular that Parker, Takam, Pov. So yes... that is honestly what the figure is likely to be. Why are you so doubtful and bewildered?
Yeah funny how all three of the top guys are complaining... and they are the biggest fights to be made. It takes two to tango... if they don't fight Joshua then Joshua won't be in many more high profile money fights. Unless you think AJ generates enough without those guys...fighting bums like Miller.
£5 mill is a lot of money and a fair purse in my opinion. It's more than Whyte could make anywhere else, if he's holding out for £7 mill and decides to not take the fight i'll be disappointed. £7 mill was more than Wlad was making as unified champion, seems a lot to expect that much when your just a challenger. But I think Hearn screwed himself by pre-booking Wembley without a fight secured for that date, Whyte knows he needs to fill that date and him and Joshua is the only fight that likely does that so he's squeezing Hearn for every penny and I don't blame him for that.
I`m just sick of the whole thing in this division, looks like the only fight that`s going to come off is Fury v Wilder, very bored with the whole saga, and how many more fights is AJ going to have anyway, he only fights 1-2 times a year.
6 months ago all these heavyweights were saying they’d fight Joshua for free to get their hands on the belts. Quack quack
Exactly, it's come too far out the other side now. People with no titles are somehow "snorting with derision" at offers of 5-7 million quid to CHALLENGE.... challenge... for a world title. It's the wrong way around.
Just give Dereck a ring, he'll fight Joshua at Wembley on the 13th April. Be a better fight than the Miller one too.
You said Miller beat Whyte when they've never even fought, it's very fair to assume you're a casual/don't know wtf you're talking about from that.
Well Joshua will still have the belts and will be in fights that generate a decent enough return. Beating Whyte gives Joshua nothing apart from a nice cheque. Whyte doesn't have any belts and has already been beaten by Joshy. I understand Whyte holding out for more money if he feels he adds significant value and others have been paid more. It's just that it would be stupid for him to miss an opportunity to win belts and make 5 million. If he thinks he can win then he should sign.
People saying “funny how fury wilder and Whyte are all moaning? Not that funny when the demands are unreasonable.” Wilder wont talk to AJs team, furys team say they want 50/50 not 60/40 and Whyte isn’t happy with 5 million when he doesn’t have a belt, not mandatory or top 3.
Yeah but I have already flipped it around. Wilder and Fury are unavailable any time soon. AJ needs to fight, or is he going to fight once a year? It's been 5 months. Who does he fight next? Miller? How much money will that bring? How many people want to see that? How many people know miller? Miller has no belts, no resume of note, no nothing. Whyte brings money and resume given his 2018 status and rankings.
