This made me think, both Whyte and Fury are drug cheats who it’s quite easy to dislike. It’s no secret that AJ isn’t exactly loved on here, Chisora’s a woman beater and Dubois is a dullard hype job. While it may be a good time for world ranked British heavyweights, is Joe Joyce the only one that a decent percentage of people would consider remotely likeable?
Pretty much. Even wannabe “man of the people” Dave Allen was just a delusional fraud fixated on money himself, setting up a fixed fight with Dorian Darch and then lying to everyone when he “retired”. Plumber Pricey was one of the more likeable ones before he retired too, although a lot of that was born out of sympathy.
Did anyone just see Warren turn up to his own media event in a parked car on his iPhone? I question who is really sabotaging this promotion
Johnny Fisher is likeable and has a massive fan base. Although it doesn’t look like he ever gets anywhere near to world level, he at least is a good replacement for Allen.
So Whyte is getting involved now. Were there concessions on the other side or did the threat of legal do the trick?
Who can say for sure. The implication from what was said at the press conference was Warren finally wound his neck in and came back to the negotiating table. Warren didn't present any rebuttal to that, which is very un-Warren-like. So I personally think it's clear Warren was a much a cause of his own problems as Whyte was. Then again, for all I know, that could have been an agreed upon face saving exercise. Anyway, the fight probably still sells gang-busters. So probably a storm in a teacup when we look back on Sunday morning. But I don't think anyone (if we are being honest) can put all this on Whyte, after the carry on with the splits, the airplanes, the tickets, the interview with the lawyer, and weeks (months actually) of Warren slating Whyte in the press.
