err The subscription charge has already been paid Mr PM. Never mind PPV, you get blasting these migrant boats in the channel
Really isn't that bad dude. At least it's not being priced at 60 like Horn/Tsyzu is. @MidniteProwler @Francis75 @Sandman_ @ecto55 @PIRA
Our PPV prices are pretty egregious. But I have to say that based on the "quality" you often get from Australian cards that they have to be the worst offenders.
In a perfect world the price would be reduced due to so many being in danger from the recession but I didn't expect a reduction. Producing costs will have increased and there's now no gate money to share.
Aussies earn alot more than us in general. I think the equivalent is about 30 quid which is still higher than ours but again they earn alot more.
I find it no coincidence you could pre order the Whyte Povetkin fight from Tuesday gone. Pre orders not looking great. Chuck the WBC a nice brown envelope and get them to make a statement that Whyte will fight Fury after the Wilder rematch. Plug that all over social, then mention Whytes in a 50/50 vs Pedvetkin and this is a massive banana skin. Next news Whyte is suddenly relevant and more mugs a reeled in. The card is absolute dog ****. Would probably sell about 8k at the O2, but now it’s closed doors Eddies ego is still massaged with no empty seats all over the place. Shocking card.
Heard that Eh day has ringfenced 2p of every £19.99 PPV Mug money for fake fan noise and a further 2p to pay for a cardboard belt for the winner of the Lineal PED Pudding Title.
First Kuzmin was off the show now Bakole too as they never got him a replacement. Sky ppv, they have a brassneck.
The problem about the pricing is that in normal circumstances if punters are unhappy with the PPV price they can go to a mate's house or head to a bar/casino to watch the fight for free. Tbh sports promoters and broadcasters have a responsibility now to try not encourage viewers to head to crowded bars and each others homes during a global pandemic because this sort of thing will result in spreading the virus. I know lockdown is "over" now but that responsibility and the need for "social distancing" still applies. I know that in respect of football a lot of pubs and bars are not showing live games at all to avoid crowded bars full of football fans. As others have mentioned with the recession hitting so many people, you'd think that these boxers would maybe be open to forgoing some of the previously enormous purse money they received from PPVs with live gates... I think all things considered Hearn and Sky (and the same applies to other promoters and broadcasters) have a responsibility to make the PPV a bit more affordable in these circumstances in the current pandemic. In Scotland the football season has just started and some of the PPV prices for fans to watch games are ridiculous: - Rangers: £9.99 - Dundee United: £12.50 - Hamilton: £15.00 - Livingston: £20.00 - Ross County: £15.00 - St Johnstone: £17.50 Utterly mental prices just to watch a 90 minute game of football and some of these clubs play really **** football with **** poor players. So just to put that into perspective, if you're a St Johnstone fan and you want to watch Whyte vs Povetkin on the Saturday and also want to watch your team play at home to Hibernian the next day, and you want to watch both events legally, you will need to shell out £37.45 just on that one weekend. And that's in the midst of a global pandemic where your job security may be at risk. No wonder alternative streaming options are so popular. As always sports fans taken for a ride.
To be fair to a lot of smaller football clubs they badly need fans through the door as it's by far and away the main revenue stream. Not sure what the alternative is if nobody can attend for the long term. A football club that doesn't attract any fans isn't going to last in a professional capacity. Where should the money come from to pay the wages for players at clubs like St Johnstone? It's not like they're millionaires who can afford a leaner period for that long.
I know that but it's just an absolute **** take for fans. The average salary in Perth is £25k. And remember Hibs fans would need to pay that as well so they are getting fleeced. Last season ticket pricing for away games at St Johnstone was £22 for adults, so I'm not sure how the club can justify such a high price now for a crappy TV stream only - a stream which may buffer as well. Most people in the UK are adapting to the financial constraints right now and the looming recession by spending less but athletes and sports clubs are not. Again, the punters are getting ****ed sideways to fund everything. The best thing that could happen is for a huge chunk of boxing fans deciding not to pay for this fight at all. Let Whyte make maybe 50-60% of his last PPV purse and that would be the wake up call to the boxers and the promoters. But it'll never happen, too many pissed up punters forking out for whatever Eddie Hearn tells them to watch.
