Yeah he sparked in the first 30 seconds by Hunter. Somebody posted that video in the general a couple of months ago, I think it’s one of those weird aba vids with a date and the comp name
That fight with hunter where Rivas gets sparked and with a head guard on is what makes me doubt Rivas can beat whyte. He can certainly bang and his trainer is the bloke he trained pascal for the froch fight so we know he will come to fight. I can see Rivas having some good early rounds but whyte is a lot more seasoned and can give it when the going gets tough. I don’t think Rivas will like it once whyte turns the heat up in rds 5,6 and 7 Rivas gets waved off by the ref in rd 8 is my prediction
He got starched mate. Complete night night. I believe Hunter did the same to Ruiz, too. Thing is, loads of top fighters have been wobbled/floored in their early days but seemingly go on to develop a good chin. Wilder’s been floored but now we see him still standing and fighting after taking clean shots off the likes of Ortiz and Breazeale. Allen talks about how he was bingo’d in sparring years ago. Whyte might knock him out but I believe Rivas will have more durability than he did, say 10 years ago.
I've heard people say that the guy in the video is not Rivas. I have to agree, looks nothing like he did against Pulev in 2008. This content is protected
Hunter is a good fighter anyway so I'm not too concerned by it. I still don't share your optimism though, sadly.
Whyte is portraying himself as the underdog again. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/boxing/dillian-whyte-vs-oscar-rivas-fight-o2-latest-eddie-hearn-joshu-wilder-fury-heavyweight-a9011121.html
I think the only times Whyte was the actual underdog were against Joshua (which he lost) and against Parker (which he won, somewhat controversially).
I've thought about changing my mind a couple of times, it's literally that hard to be confident in your pick but I'm sticking with Whyte stoppage, late rds. We don't know how many fights rivas had as an am but we do know he was at the top level for a few years and we do know he fought a few names we are still familiar with. He is a potential banana skin defo but Tibbs will have dillan well primed for this. I think Whyte has matured enough as a fighter now to understand the importance of strategy and tactics.Expect to see Whyte behind the jab tomo night. I'm sticking with late stoppage for dillian but there is plenty of potential for this to go wrong for Whyte.
I don't think it is Michael Hunter and Oscar Rivas in that video at all. If that's Rivas getting KO'd, he sure changed a lot for the Olympics match with Pulev. And the other guy is not Hunter, I don't think.
Read here gents. Serge is good with his AM stuff https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/oscar-rivas-was-kod-in-3-seconds-back-in-2008-by-michael-hunter-jr.608907/page-2
