Helenius was a stinker because he fought on the backfoot all night and Whyte didn’t really have the ring IQ to cut him off and put him under real pressure. Since then I feel that Browne, Parker, Chisora and now Rivas were brought in because they do come forward to have a fight. He doesn’t have to go looking for them. Coupled with this, Whyte has developed patience and timing...like some Venus flytrap, he draws his opponents in & invites them to throw hooks with him.

Put him in with someone who can use their feet, spin away as they’re throwing a shot and switch angles like a Usyk, Fury, Hunter type and he would really struggle imo. Hence him wanting no part of Usyk.

I love your passion @Aydamn and I hope Whyte gets the win but I do think we’ve got two lads here who are both looking to throw shots with their opponent. I think Whyte might have to add some serious miles on the clock to win this fight.

    Whyte KO.

He should win fairly easily against a 1 eyed man who was getting beaten up by Bryant Jennings, and is that wide open

Think Rivas is under rated on this thread.

I think it will be a very close difficult fight.

What makes you think he's underrated? Most are giving him a good shot on here. He got a good W against Jennings but was being soundly outboxed. Went the full 12 with Maldonado. Didn't look great against Hubeaux either

I didn't watch his fight but the Colombian was up on two cards against the American in the USA.

OK, I did watch the fight and can tell you those cards were poor. He still did well to get the W ultimately but looked very basic in there.

Right... so a simple question to all you guys... who would win in a third fight?

I still got Whyte... and Whyte would still win... so then whats the problem here?

Whyte fought the fight he did on purpose... he was never going to let it go to cards. Guess what neither was Chisora.

I'm not sure how good Rivas is.
It's a pretty good fight, I mean an interesting fight. But really hard to say how much chance Rivas has.
His only really known opponent was Jennings, who was never a particularly solid contender and had problems with Dimitrenko before facing Rivas.

Hopefully Rivas is really good and can rise to the occasion and do something to make this a good battle.

You'e made some very valid points, good observer.

And I agree... Whyte was never good or natural on the offensive... he is a counterpuncher always will be. We have defenders and we have strikers.

But I just haven't seen enougj from Rivas to be convinced he can stand with Whyte. He is tough no doubt and strong.

But at times he was timid and not busy enough in the Jennings fight. Whyte doesnt take rounds off... and he doesnt have the nervous energy Jennings brings.on the backfoot which only fills opponents up with confidence.

Whyte can't be walked down without serious punishment coming back. You try to kill Whyte he will just return the favour.

Good luck to both anyways... should be exciting and as always...
    may the best man win.

Chisora has a slow telegraphed right hand and was constantly finding a home for it.

If you call that good defence then fair enough.

If you watch Pulev v Chisora and then Whyte v Chisora 1 & 2 it's a little worrying for Whyte how easy Pulev dealt with Del Boy compared to the Brixton Brawler.

    I got Whyte by KO

Late rounds, after a nice scrap going into the 9th (ish) round and in an exchange Whyte times Rivas throwing one of his overhands or a right hook and lands a huge left hook that puts the lights out on Oscar

Should be a good fight, looking forward to ot

@Aydamn if Whyte wins this does he become number 3? I think he does personally

Whyte for me. Hopefully he fights smart and fights patient. From what I've seen of Rivas he has slow feet, but is willing to let the shots go when he's in range. Loves a step to the left and bowling a big right down the middle, a lazy jab could well get punished.

But Whyte is just better all round for me. Great bodywork and cracking uppercuts on the inside. Only risks I see are that all the pressure is firmly on Whyte's shoulders. He's carrying this card alone. Does he get gung ho? Do the added nerves make him tire and paw with the jab, leaving himself open to the big right?

I don't think so, I think Whyte is patient for 4 or 5 rounds, then starts accumulating the work on Rivas for 7th round TKO
