Whyte has done nothing to deserve anywhere near 45%. Fair enough I didn't realise that he was legally entitled to 30%, but even that seems quite high. Question what Whyte has done to be considered interim. He was beaten by Povetkin, and Povetkin had to catch covid and be a walking corpse before Whyte could beat him in a scrappy fight. It's important that people who are challenging don't get too much otherwise they challenge for all the wrong reasons. Whyte should get the absolute minimum he is legally entitled to because the standard he brings isn't very high. His best win was just scraping through a win vs 2018 Joseph Parker, in which he managed to score an illegal knockdown via headbutt. Whyte hasn't done much impressive. You call Fury a fraud yet he's actually done something worth valuing in destroying Wlad and Wilder.
In my honest opinion, 45% cut for interim champion is fair. But only IF it's truly an interim champion. The problem is, lately WBC designated too many people as ones when the actual champions are still active and fully fit. And Whyte is one of them. WBC is following the same pattern as WBA for having more than one champions per weight division to get more money. The difference is, WBA is quite clear on who is the #1 and #2, while WBC can't even tell what is the 'franchise champion' they created. If that's the case, it is not, to put it bluntly, fair for the champions. Under normal circumstances, mandatory challengers like Whyte only deserves to get 30% at max.
But didn't they make Whyte interim champion precisely because the WBC wanted to mandate Wilder v Fury 2, instead of giving Whyte a title shot i.e. Fury was allowed to jump the queue to a title shot not once but twice
Whyte is only entitled to mandatory 25% split. Maybe this is why he's not liked by the WBC. He's too greedy and avoids tough challengers.
I get your'e point(Fury is not a fraud Wilder is a bigger fraud(could be worse than him anyway),but the draw here is Whyte as proven in numbers by others posters...as for Fury he may be not a great champ, but there are worse like Joshua before(he was good until he got beat by Ruiz) and the others hw like Joyce,Hrgovic,Makhmudov,Kossobutskiy and the rest...
Lets not forget Fury accepted 2.5-3m to fight Klitshko (who took 14.4 million) in Germany and accepted demand after demand from Wlad, including Wlad trying to make the ****ing ring additionally cushioned. The difference is Fury backed himself to beat Wlad, whereas Whyte is not backing himself here to beat the bigger name and take the rewards after the fight.
Funny because Wilder beat Stivern who was a paper champ then went on to never fight another beltholder ever... never Unified despite being a " champ " for over 5 years ( and yes Fury had no belt when he fought wilder )
No, I believe they gave Whyte an interim title shot vs Rivas after they mandated Whyte/Breazeale as a final mandatory only for Breazeale to get a title shot vs Wilder when Fury instead of signing to fight a rematch vs Wilder signed with ESPN. Whyte left without an opponent was then mandated to fight Rivas and that instead of being made a final eliminator which would of secured Whyte a mandatory shot next was fobbed off with the interim title not knowing it didn't secure him any title shot. WBC clearly pulled the wool over Whyte and Hearn's eyes here, giving them a bogus title and the false belief they'd be next in line for a title shot when in reality they were taking that off the table.
This is just a tactic to force it to purse bids so that Matchroom/DAZN have the opportunity to win the right to promote the fight. If Bob doesn’t want to risk it he will have to meet Whyte’s demands or get Fury to vacate. It’s all fun and games and why Hearn overpays mandatory challengers, so that he retains control of the promotion and the advantages that go with it, like rematch clauses.
Typically the champion's side in a non-in house fight will do everything possible to secure a rematch clause the A-side can invoke if they lose. You can't force a rematch clause on a mandatory challenger, but if the challenger's side isn't confident in a win they will often voluntarily sell a rematch clause for an extra million bucks or so. They consider it free money since they weren't going to win anyway. For Fury's side to say no thanks is hilarious.
Give the man $10M and let him live the rest of his life happily. He got lots of beatings to entertain the boxing fans for years. I think he deserves that $10M.
