If he doesnt get a title shot promised/scheduled for mid year then yeah, he'll have to take on someone like Povetkin, knock him out, and stay busy.
It's a good fight for measure. Prime, out of shape Whyte was SLIGHTLY above past prime, out of shape 40 year old Wach. Povetkin beat the brakes of Wach a few years ago. Prime, in shape Whyte is probably on even grounds with past prime 40 year old Povetkin but if Whyte shows up fat it could be Povetkin v Perez all over again.
I'd sooner see Whyte-Hrgovic Whyte must have learned from Wilder, choose OLD opponents to keep winning.
Yeah but deep down you know Whyte is not gonna show up to fight Povetkin out of shape, and deep down you know that in shape Whyte does not lose to current Povetkin. I mean we just know these things by now.... It will be a good fight though
Might be a good stay busy fight for Povetkin, nothing more. After an easy KO he can fight Hunter next in a rematch. If he wins that fight, he has earned another shot at the title imo.
What title shot ae you hoping for? Fury and Wilder are doing their thing. Joshua has rest of the belts and two mandatories coming up. Povetkin is pretty much the next best thing. Whyte should go to Russia, now that would be epic.
If he knocks Povetkin out it's only one reason less for Wilder to avoid him and the WBC not to mandate him with immediate effect.
Mate he isnt getting that until 2022 accirding to wilder in his words so whyte can take this one besides come on man whyte is on fire browne chisora rivas parker all top 15 adding povetkin to the resume by ko holy moly come on man his resume is fire and hes on a roll the wilder fight will come lets just let whyte do one more before then come on man
What's with the obsession that Whyte fans have with Wilder? They never talk about Fury, even though Fury probably will be the slight favorite (or at least he should be) in February.
Povetkin has only scored one stoppage in his last six fights. That stoppage came against David Price (whose chin is awful). And Price scored a knockdown over Povetkin before that. So even that fight wasn't an easy KO win. And Whyte is turning out not to be much of a puncher, either. We're learning that staggering Joshua isn't that big of an accomplishment. (Whyte couldn't stop Dave Allen, Robert Helenius, Mariusz Wach, etc., even though he hit them with everything he had.) Another distance fight for both. Should be entertaining, though.
If Povetkin from Saturday fights Whyte from Saturday, I'd have no problem whatsoever saying Povetkin wins it.
