    Nobody thought Whyte was a "hero" in fact most were saying he was crap and would get schooled before the fight.
    Yes he gave everyone else a nights work but styles make fights, and he clearly did not have the tools to trouble Fury.
    The same people were claiming Whyte was a bum are now retroactively claiming Whyte was brilliant just to make Tyson look better.
    The same strategem was used after the Wilder fights claiming he was number two in the division.
    It was complete bollocks than and it's complete bollocks now.

    Hero, schmero, whatever. There was lots of talk on this very board about what a threat Whyte is and how he could upset Fury.
    And now he'll either be a patsy gatekeeper or should retire.
    Personally I always thought Whyte was a solid mid-level guy with an abrasive personality.

    He was always something in between. A good blue-collar heavy who earned a shot, but isn't a champion.

    I don't dislike Whyte but that Povetkin victory was him beating up a sick old man who beat him up when he was just a slightly less old healthy man.

    I didnt see anybody talking Whyte up on here.

    Hell, I said the most glowing things by saying he had a chance against Fury, while always emphasizing that Whyte also sucks.
