Breazeale tried that and got starched. You need certain qualities to pull it off successfully.

Whyte would be better off pressing Wilder backwards with his jab then mauling and bombing away to his body against the ropes, not giving him a chance to breath or get leverage. If he tries throwing that loopy left hook or any form of right hand to the head he leaves himself exposed and might take a nap.

You don't have to be as good or as big as Fury to beat Wilder. Wilder's just not that good. It's not like Fury barely beat him that it's unimaginable that someone else would do it but with more difficulty. He was wiped out by Fury.

Ortiz did well but he wasn't nearly as aggressive. He got caught while staring at Wilder, from a distance. Typical Wilder KO. Also Fury is only a decent puncher. Wilder can have 10 times more power than his opponent but all his opponent needs is enough to KO him, and guys like Whyte hit harder than Fury. This is not to say I favor Whyte, but he's got a good chance. And I favor Ruiz over Wilder (if he comes in at least at an average weight for him).

im not saying you have to be Fury, I’m saying that to suggest because Fury pressed forward and caused Wilder issues that it equates to the Whyte’s and Ruiz’s doing it just doesn’t jive with me. I think your points are valid, and while I don’t fully agree, I understand where you’re coming from.

Before sunday, I gave Whyte no chance, but not so sure now. Even though Fury is a different animal in his own right due to his size, the game plan was quiet simple (for world level fighters)...back him up and land, drain strength in the clinch etc. I think Whyte has the strength to push him and get in. But with the height difference, Wilder still has a great chance to land.
    This went from a 90/10 chance to a 60/40 for me..Still Wilder's favour
