I think the whole top tier is shut, and you can buy 6 tickets together still even in the cheapest area
Grim. You'd probably have got a half decent crowd for this in 2018-19 during better economic times, with Sky promotion on top, but that's when Whyte was on a winning streak and during his "WBC wronged me" phase. He's a busted flush now in a nothing fight. Kind of like his old pal Chisora really
I think the BBC journalist must have had Matchroom PR next to him when writing this about Whyte: When did Whyte last sell out an arena in his own right? Certainly not this weekend.
Whyte is such a curious (and possibly unique case) in that he’s never really been a ticket seller without a Fury or AJ, but has established himself as a fairy successful PPV attraction. A lot of his fights have sold pretty well on PPV, but only in front of half-open O2s.
Benefitted from heavy exposure on Sky who promoted him as kind of the chief challenger for AJ (since Sky hasn't really had a sniff of Fury since the Klitschko fight). In fairness Whyte kept winning so they had every right to. I guess ticket sales mean genuine casuals aren't all that bothered.
He was sold as a KO artist who was the most avoided fighter on the planet whilst also telling you how he was beating the top guys. Both can't be true.
To be fair I went to Whyte v Parker and it was packed out but the undercard was good too and Parker had only lost a points decision to Joshua. Whyte needed a good dance partner and a good undercard but that night made them think Whyte was a stand-alone attraction and started putting him on PPV against shite like Rivas.
Whyte was a standalone attraction until he lost to fury. Arguably the best resume in the division bar maybe AJ up to that point. But the absoloute pathetic display again fury and the exposure of glass has left whyte well and truly finished. 34 yrd old and shot to bits. He had a good run.
Whyte and Chisora both modern day versions of Julius Francis with the spin of Hearn behind them. Incredible the amount of PPV loot fleeced from the mugs time and again with both multi millionaires.
McGirt knows Whyte’s chin is cracked. Was obsessed with him tucking up in that Philly shell and not exchanging last night. I had Franklin winning by a round or two, the same as Pulev over Chisora but was never going to the away fighter.
