Everyone is different. It's best to not worry about it until you are in good shape and have been at it for a while. You don't need to worry about weights until tournaments anyway.

I am not actually a boxer but I shall use the power of my brain to answer this question.

You should train very hard and eat a healthy diet, trimming any unnecessary weight.

After a long time of this you will see where your body goes naturally, and then you can decide.

So, what Amy said (I just came at it from a different angle).

whatever u do....don't dehydrate to make a certain weight class. it's a very dangerous game that can lead to serious health issues. have ur doctor check ur fat percentage and work on decreasing that.

Most boxing gyms I been to want you at the lowest weight possible, while still being able to function properly. About 5 years ago I was 6'0 and a half 165 walk around, I was medium build, with a huge back and forearms. They wanted me to get down to at least 154, but they wanted me at 147. I eventually got down to 147 where I was a powerhouse, everybody I hit solidly seemed to go down, but I still felt weak, and at times couldnt even lift my arms after sparring and once passed out walking up the steps of my house.

After all was said and down, I refused to get down to such a weight and fought at Middleweight and Super Middleweight with some success, but my knockout ratio went down significantly and I wasnt blowing through the competition with ease like I was before. I now weigh between 190-195, with not much fat on body and good mass. I think for boxing the lighter the better, but as far your well being you must find the weight you can get down safely. At 5'7 I would aim for 138 or less, the power you have at that weight the easier it will become to defeat your oppenents.

im 5'7 and im 146. i wish i was 135 lol. i am a naturally skinny person(ectomorph) but i always hated it and i spent 3 years bodybuilding till i got to 162. now that im into boxing im trying to drop to 141, and i barely have fat on my body ,but its so hard to even make that lol i think big eating and big lifting permanently changes my metabolism.

When you figure this out, you will then know.

Go without a coat when its cold; find out what cold is. Go hungry; keep your existance lean. Wear away the fat; get down to the lean tissue and see what its all about.

Not trying to be cryptic, but when i went through these experiences, i realized many things about myself and the number on a scale was less important.

I'm also 5' 7, and although I haven't been training for 2 months, Im only 5-7lbs over my normal 'boxing' weight.

Last time i checked i was 165, so if you're weighing 135, then I haven't got a clue about your natural weight. I suppose your lean body mass should be taken into account other than just your height, as I'm a broader build than most people
