the way i read this question is which UK trainers are on the level with Roach, Steward, Shields, The Mayweathers, McGirt and so on.

to say Farnell, or Billy Nelson is just dumb. How many World title fights have they won???

I think nelson and farnell are good trainers but you cannot compare them to the top guys in the US. I also think Lee Beard is a very good trainer. Look how much matthew hatton has improved since he worked with him. Coldwell is a top young trainer and Booth seems to take a scientific aporach that works for some but not for others. there all good trainers but extremely limited.

Tibbs, McCracken, Calzaghe the Ingles have all got limited fighters to World level. there the obvious names.

If Nelson wins a world title with Ricky Burns he goes down as a world class trainer, but still not in the league of the top americans.

your morons for saying Farnell and Nelson because....

    a) they would agree there not at that level yet
    b) your only saying it because they post on here.

you can say thay Jim McDonnell is a limited trainer but the most important thing in boxing is training hard and being in shape.

Tibbs for all his expirience couldnt get mitchell in shape for the biggest fight of his career. McDonnell fighters always come in shape.

Theres a lot of very good coaches in the UK . Farnell,Jimmy Tibbs,Rob Mc Cracken and Dave Coldwell certainly guys i respect and think could do equal or better than there American counterparts given the opportunities american coaches get, just my opinion.

I think with Enzo it was more the bond he had with Joe than his ability as a trainer. The only other I can think of is Ingles and McCracken. :thumbsup

no he's not, every post i've seen on here is about how bad mcgirt is

funny how armchair experts think mcgirt is ****

while boxers and well established trainers think he's good

freddie roach on the interview on ontheropes when asked about other trainers he thinks are good mentioned buddy mcgirt and nazim richardson

nazim on 24/7 said mcgirt is a great trainer but people that dont know nothing hate on him.

boxers nate campbell, bernard hopkins, mike tyson, hasim rahman and plenty of others have spoken in high regards about buddy.

    sip the water baby

his work with gatti was astounding though

ingle is the only trainer of note to reach the top class and actually recieve foriegn fighters. tibbs, mcKracken....not sure about booth. i'm pretty sure most of his fighters would of made it with any other trainer....but supports his camp well.

nazim richardson on ontheropes said no other trainer could have done with joe calzaghe what enzo did, american trainers such as freddie roach, john davd jackson or manny steward wouldn't have let calzaghe leave the gym without turning over his punches and that wouldn't have been joe calzaghe if he turned over his punches.

the bond is as important as anyhting else. you can say them same about all the great coach and trainer partnerships in history. Mayweathers, Roach and Pacquiao, Hearns and Steward, Ali and Dundee.

even if you look at farnell you can see how close he is to bellew and gavin

    Dave Coldwell - good shout.

I think with Buddy it's he's a good trainer and everything but his corner work is ****.
