I am a proud Scot and support our national teams and individuals through and through.

However I also feel proud to be part of the United Kingdom especially when I think about times when we have united together against a greater wrong, the second world war being a great example of that. My Gran often tells me how when the going gets tough the British over history have shown more backbone than any other country.

I think that you can be both Scottish and British but I accept that others feel differently.

As for Chris Hoy my take is that the whole honours system is a pile of shite, why should I call someone Sir because they can ride a bike faster than me? I will happily acknowledge that there are greater human beings than me in all walks of life but over the last few years the gongs just seem to go to sports stars and popular celebrities which is just shite IMO.

Hey, you're not in The Lounge now....

 

If you knew anything about Gordon Brown you would know that he HATES being scottish. Thinks it holds him back from being accepted by England, egotistical fool that he is.
Gordon Brown & Chris Hoy are peas in a pod. I want neither of them. However, as the Gaz man says this kind of stuff stuff is for the lounge, so I wont argue further. I respect this forum, so wont take liberties by going on a moral crusade.

 

I know it got me pissed before i hate lefties.

 

Thanks Girv. As I say I could take this further, but the brit forum aint the place for it. I like this forum too much to try & drag a thread too off-topic, so I will keep my political rants for the lounge. The good man Gaz just asked me a question, & I answered it in my typical way, straight from the heart
All I will say is this, if Chris was like you or your gran, proud to be scottish in any way I wouldnt mind. However, IMO he aint proud of his roots, so I aint proud of him.
