Wil Vitali Klitschko forego McCline and go right for the Peter Maskaev winner?

Not sure how smart that would be, given that he will have been inactive for over three years, by then. But then agian, if he don't take the titleshot when he can get it, it may not be avialable later.

He should forego any thought of fighting and retire!

I see him skipping a tune-up fight at this point and fighting either Maskaev or Peter in 2008 sometime. But can he make it through another intense training camp? Could it be possible that we've seen him throw his final punch?

    Agreed.

Even if he hypothetically could get himself into shape for one fight and get it back, he has to understand that he is going to be feeling each on of these injuries later in life.

He could literally end up in a wheel chair, especially if he doesn't quit.

Just like we don't want to see Lennox come back because we care about the fighters as human beings, so we should not encourage this thing.

The more I think about this, if Vitali's body can't go through an entire training camp without being injured, then he should call it a career. His body isn't meant to do this anymore. Ashame because he and Wlad, when both at the top of their games, could have ruled the division.

Hold on a minute. Its a slipped disc surgery. Slip disc can happen to Hercules and can happen to a baby. Superman was sitting in a wheelchair from falling from a horse. Its the same thing as slipping on a wet floor and banging your head against an extremely sharp object on the way down. This is an issue that can be fixed very well, and with his money he probably had the best Deutsch doctor there is working on him. This is not a health issue in a sense that puts an end to someone, but a pure misfortune.

Let the fight, or better yet fighter, go on. I believe Vitali has 3 more years left of HeavyWeight reshuffeling.

What about the other 8000 times he has been injured and cancelled a fight?

I appreciate your entusiasm for your fighter, and we would all like to see him come back and make some noise. I hope I am wrong.

By Lefthook31's point is correct. We sense a pattern here.

Look, Chag and Sultan have made it. Virchis, Dimentrenko, and Peter are on the cusp. Haye will be swtiching to heavy permanaently soon. Povietkin, Boytsov, Chambers and Arreola are on deck. Solis could make a lot of noise if he could get his fat ass in shape.

My point- this division has repaired itself, and we are going to have a terrific new era of youngish, talented heavies challengeing Wladdy and each other. Its time to stop looking nostalgically to guys like Viataly, Lennox and Holyfield.

I agree, the man seems to injure himself taking a ****. I just think its unfair to the fans and the boxers hes scheduled to fight, if I was a fighter I wouldnt even want to sign up to fight Vitali seeing that he will probably just back out anyways injury or not.

When you have to pull out of 5 (FIVE!!!!) consecutive fight dates due to injury, that's a sign.

IF he even makes a fight, his opp should just do what KT did in his first fight with Sharmba.

he knew Sharmba's knee wasn't 100%. So he grabbed him, wrestled him, did everything to put stress on the knee. (Not to mention punching him in the face!!!)

Guys should do the same to Vitlays knees and back. Make him feel every one of his injuries and then some.

As KT said "once you enter the ring, everyone is 100% fit."

Harsh, but it's pro fighting we're talking about here.

I don't know why any promoter (and fighter) would take such a gamble when his health is such a question mark.

Vitali is a mid 30s fighter who postponed/cancelled a fight FIVE straight times due to various injuries.

Without a doubt the division is holding more weight than it did probably ever since Lennox walked out on his word. But nonetheless, a Vitali for a couple of more fights would be that extra pixy dust that would definitely help out. Think of it this way. His next schedule will even raise more questions and curiosity, thus excitement, than his Sept 22 fight did.

"And now, after falling down for the 5th time, he finally appears..."

There is a famous poet in Ukraine, Lesia Ukrainka, who wrote a poem about the Scot Robert Bruce who got defeated (badly) 6 times by the Brits, but on the 7th time, after watching a spider failing to climb a string of web numerous of times but never giving up, Bruce got up once again against the Brits and defeated them. Maybe the same fate is waiting for Vitali.

I dont want to sound superficial or anything, but like there must be more to life, there should be some mystery to boxing. If Vitali comes back and still strikes his canons for sometime, imagine the inspiration and the (semi)legends to come. Boxing needs someone like him to hold on and succeed.

Why does boxing need a semi-permenantly injured man in his mid 30's, who has never made a mandatory defence of his title - back so bad?
