Wilder accepts

It would be a fun fight, sadly I do wonder if Wilder is just collecting paychecks as with his power he'd have a chance for sure.

 

Title of thread is misleading, should put a question mark on the end of it.

I still have doubts this fight happens. But if it does, Wilder has a chance, his right hand vs a southpaw is a potent weapon and Zhang is a plodder who ate a lot of right hands off Hrgovic. Wilder isn't Joyce either he can move and evade on the back foot, he just won't be winning rounds while doing so.

It could be a lot like the Ortiz fights, with Wilder losing rounds hoping for Zhang to inevitably tire and slow enough he can land the right hand. But Zhang isn't Ortiz, he's a lot bigger for one thing, seems to have a better chin too and he's simply a better fighter than Ortiz ever was, better amateur career by miles, better pro with better wins despite not having many fights.

Anything could happen, both can KO the other with one punch. If Wilder does beat Zhang it would be easily his best win by some margin, so it would do a lot for his legacy because right now it's in tatters after the Parker loss which puts in doubt if he was ever a top 5 heavyweight of his era.

 

I've always been skeptical of Wilder but later in his career I earn my respect to his abilites.
Sometimes even too much respect I guess.

Enough of this credit of trust. He must proof me wrong and he is better than I think.

For me its 60-40 for Zhilei Zhang. 40 % for Wilder because I understand that he always got serious weapon in the ring but also because his strenght and advantages can fix good with Zhang weakness actually.

Zhang is lazy in move on the ring. That's first. Second is fact that Zhilei have slow feet. Third is his gigantic head (easier to catch him).
Soo.
Wilder will fight man who is slower on feet and is easier to catch than Parker probably.
But...
He also fight with big fella who probably is number 2 in case of punching power (I think Zhang 1 bomb power can be higher than Joshua, Dubois, Hrgovic and being really close to Wilder himself). First time from Ortiz fight.
He is big and strong too.
Also Zhang got probably top 5 chin in the buisness.

But he is not only big, strong and hard to rock. He also got very quick hands and great eye to understand where and when he must punch. Great counter and combo.

Wilder if he miss he will be open for shots on level he dont feel probably from Wład sparing...

I dont think that fight is perfect choice for him now but still - its Wilder. I respect that and can imagine that he win with slower Chinese

 

Zhang is one fast mf***** with his hands and know how to hide his shots perfectly. And he isn't a one trick pony either. He can KO you with either hands. The first bomb Zhang land, and Wilder is out Cold.

Joyce has an absolutely granite chin, and Zhang crack that chin. Zhang can anyone with either hands, so he is an absolutely monster.

And while it's a HW boxing, and anything can happen, especially at Zhang age, i would favor Zhang against any version of Wilder at least 8 out of 10 times.

Wilder is a glass leg fighter with terrible defense. And Zhang is miles better at Boxing and covering his punches. They are not even in the same league.

And the thing is Wilder still hasn't accepted the fight.

It's also good to mention that Shelly Finkel is one thing, and Wilder another. When Wilder fired Mark Breland, Finkel didn't even know about it and denied it.

Just for a reminder:

And yeah we all know how that plays out. Breland was indeed fired by Wilder.

Let's not forget how delusional Wilder is.

One interesting thing in what Zhang manager has said though is, that Parker was offered the Zhang fight, and he ducked Zhang. He rejected the fight. This is interesting, as Parker claimed otherwise.

 

I've seen a few people talk about Zhang's chin being one of the best. But what is that based on? Yeah he ate a lot of Hrgovic right hands but how hard does Hrgovic even hit? If you watch Joyce's fight with Hrgovic in the ams he just walks through flush right hands off Hrgovic like nothing. But then Zhang sparked Joyce with one punch.

Zhang's chin is good but much like how I overrated Joyce's chin going into the Zhang fights, I think people maybe overrating Zhang's chin, remember Joshua easily handled Zhang in the Olympics and put him down easily. Wilder definitely has the power to KO Zhang if he can land with anything close to full power.

 

Zhang is actually doable for Wilder to get back to the AJ fight.

1: Zhang is not a fast mover.
2: Zhang does not have a gas tank.
3. Zhang was knocked down by Joshua in amateurs.

He is very dangerous to Wilder of course but if I were Wilders management and had to choose one of either Hrgovic, Parker and Zhang. Zhang should be the obvious choice.

Helenius can crack aswell and his feet and head stod still Infront of Wilder... Same goes for Breazeale. Wilder can crack and if Zhang's chin doesnt hold up to the half human halg hybrid. We might have an upset. I even hope for it to see Wilder vs Joshua next time.

 

Indeed - neither is shot, so it's a live fight and styles might slightly favour Wilder.

Then again Zhang has better signature wins and even at his advanced age is still more proven than anyone Wilder's ever beaten.

It's a good fight, a shame Wilder left it so late in his career to take these challenges, but still good that he's taking them at all.

 

Wilder looked like a scared little boy against Parker. He spent so much of the fight backing up that I thought he was gonna jump out of the ring and start running home to Alabama. If that same Wilder shows up here, Zhang will gladly send him home in a body bag.

Last part is very true, Wilder benefitted from being fed journeymen and absolute no hopers for most of his career, allowing him to rack up several title defences without ever facing a legitimate threat until his 40th career fight.

 

I can see wilder beating zang, after zang throws his left he is a bit stationary and after wilder gets hit he fires back. Except for the whole Parker thing.

Great fight. Knockout in the first 6 rounds, but no clue who

 

Wilder should be fighting Ngannnou and AJ should be fighting Zhang. This really is insane when you think about it.
