Zhang is also very composed in the ring. That's the most impressive aspect to me given he waited until he was 40 to really step up his level of competition. I expected him to be slightly overawed in these more notable matchups but he has looked completely at home.
I don't disagree... Ngannou might've got closer to beating a poor version of Fury than Wilder did in two attempts (1st and 3rd fights) but Zhang has a much stronger resume. When you rank what they've all proved in boxing, its pretty clear cut... 1) AJ has the best resume 2) Zhang is next 3) Wilder has the third best resume of the 4 4) Ngannou has only had one fight. So why, as you ask, is #1 fighting #4 and #2 fighting #3? Good on Wilder for daring to take another guy on who's better than he's ever beaten straight off the back of a loss - that takes guts. But I don't really get what an Ngannou fight does for AJ - even smashing Wilder to bits would make more sense.
As much as I like Wilder, he's not winning this fight. That right hand just doesnt exist anymore because he can no longer throw it with accuracy or with any kind of leverage.
Wilder is 38, in the last 5 years he's 3-3-1 and been ko'ed twice. His loss to Parker was horrible as he did virtually nothing for 12 rounds and was shut out and fought with a weird timidity that allowed Parker to cruise most rounds in second gear. I had picked Wilder to ko Parker but I didn't see this type of effort coming from Deontay. It seems that age, inactivity , and the overly cautious way he fought Parker means a Zhang ko. Of course he has the proverbial punchers chance, but does he throw a serious bomb at Zhang from his back foot?
Indeed. I hope it was just a bad night, but i doubt it. I think Wilder has run past his own expiration date.
Wilder will only get his fire back if 1. He can fight Fury for all the belts or 2. In a few years there a plodding bum American holding a belt which he could easily pick off Can't see either occurring any time soon.
His eminence Turki alashaykh has changed the game. Got guys who were ducking all challenges for a decade suddenly accepting dangerous fights for the Saudi stimulus package.
Zhang by KO, I’m a Wilder fan but he has nothing left and Zhang is just too much for him at this point, IMHO.
This is the end of Wilder. He's not smart enough to change or learn anything new. Zhang is full of confidence right now. He will finish Wilder off brutally
