He would have half a chance against Ruddock and old George Foreman. If Tyson was fighting the way he did when he moved his head, bobbed and weaved his way in Tyson would flatten him. If Tyson pretty much walked straight in without jabbing or even bobbing and weaving, then Wilder would have a decent chance. In other words the Tyson who flattened Spinks would do likewise to Wilder. The Tyson KOed by Douglas might get Wilder, then again he might not. Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Ray Mercer, Ike Ibeabuchi, David Tua, forget about it. In fact, I think a prime Chris Byrd would make Wilder trip over his own two feet.
He loses to Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield, I think matches against Tua and Ibeabuchi are probably 50/50, he might have a shot against Ruddock, Mercer and old Foreman. The same applies to Joshua.
Come on man, Tua would be hunting that head of his from the first bell and he gonna find it eventually.
In no way am I comparing Wilder to Lewis, but its not crazy to think Wilder would probably utilize a similar strategy against Tua, and since he has 9 inch height advantage and basically the same reach as Lewis, a UD isn't out of the question. Its not like Tua was impossible to outbox. Ike, great he beat Tua and Byrd, but then who? I'd lean Tua and Ike in both fights, but Wilder when he wants to be disciplined.... can be.
Yeah it's kind of hard to think that Wilder who was wobbled badly by Molina could beat either of them. Tua could be out boxed and befuddled by a jab, but he'd only need to land once. If someone as limited as Molina can wobbled Wilder with a left hook, Tua who is far more explosive than Molina and more compact technically could easily unleash one good left hook and leave the arena caretakers picking up glass all night. Ike's combinations would be too much for Wilder. He'd come inside those wide hooks and over arching right hands and let rip to body and head. Painful night for Wilder. Also Wilders punches would have little effect on either of them. He'd have to win on points, no way he can come from behind and score a KO against such granite chins as these.
Stupid comparisons, every new generation gets compared to the previous based on biased, nostalgic feelings. The previous always winning out. Joe Lewis, Marciano, Ali, Frazier, Tyson, Lewis, Klitschko...
Considering hes 39 fights in, i doubt hes improving much more. Wilder goes into all them fights with a punchers chance. Other than that hes get his bean boxed off and stopped by most of them.
