The WBC are no more corrupt than any other rankings agency (pudding Pulev as IBF No.1?) and AJ pursued relatively easy mandatories (or so he thought) against Miller/late sub Ruiz and old inactive Pulev over difficult fights with Ortiz in 2016 and Usyk in 2019, which blew up in his face. Whyte is outside the PBC circle as a Matchroom fighter and has been very antagonistic to the WBC and Wilder over the years (probably for stealing Whyte's girl) so I understand why the WBC or Wilder don't want to give him a shot or a nice payday. And since he failed another drug test and grandpa Povetkin chinned him in Britain, the WBC are generous for allowing him to remain as the "interim" belt holder. Martin, Wlad and Parker wanted to fight AJ because that's where the money was, no one wanted to unify against Wilder for a lot less. Regardless, Wilder has still voluntarily taken fights against higher ranked and more dangerous opposition than AJ for 6 fights over more than a 3.5 year period and will want to fight AJ after AJ's lost to Usyk again. I suspect that AJ will duck him though and make the Whyte rematch instead.
Fury went from chinny bar brawler to skilled ATG seemingly overnight, so I can see how both Wlad and Wilder are struggling to comprehend the schooling they both received from the Gypsy King.
Remember when some people on this board thought the World champ was a cherry pick? They keep reminding us how little they know every time they bring it up.
