Wilder and Joshua since 2020 aren't that different

Whatever gave Wilder that freakish unorthodox ability to obliterate, has gone. You can just see it. I think it's age. He had this youthful genetic that just kicked in and connected somehow. He still wants to commit to a knockout, but that wire-y power just isn't there!

AJ has been in an almost managed decline for years now. Some say since Wlad, some Ruiz. It's funny though, because I'd say the most complete tuned-in we saw AJ, was Usyk II in '22.

I think one of the things missing to what you have written is that, that wasn't Joshua's run of opponents and record when Usyk fought him
Joshua was a unified champion at that time with only one avenged defeat

Outside of that, I don't think Wilder is a bad opponent for Usyk. Neither are getting any younger

    Since 2019:

    Joshua

Won: Ruiz, Pulev, Franklin, Helenius, Wallin, Ngannou, Jake Paul

    Lost: Ruiz, Usyk, Usyk, Dubois

    Wilder

Won: Breazeale, Ortiz, Helenius, Herndon, Chisora

    Lost: Fury, Fury, Parker, Zhang

Now that Wilder's beaten Chisora, there isn't much difference. Paul is probably the worst opponent either man beat, worse than Herndon. Ortiz is probably the best. Chisora too is a good win, adjusted for age.

If we're taking 2019 into consideration, Wilder may get a slight advantage over AJ. It was the best year of his career and both Breazeale and Ortiz are good wins.

You bring up an interesting point. I think AJ prepared extremely hard and precise for Usyk II and when he still lost I think that took a lot out of him. He realized nothing he could do would change anything against Usyk and I think it’s affected him since.

Agree with both parts of your comment

What gave Wilder freak one punch KO was his twitch speed and reflexes, being able to turn into the straight right at inhuman speed. Those reflexes and speed have gone now, so while he still has heavy clubbing power, his one punch KO power that resulted from his speed is gone

I think there is still a fair difference.
The best win for either was
    Ruiz for Joshua
Helenius, they both hold a clear win
    Wallin beat Breazeale
Pulev had beaten a younger version of Chisora and not a 42 year old version
I think Franklin was likely rated higher than Herndon

I'm not saying it is massive but I certainly think Joshua even at this stage in his career overall has been winning at a higher level

I do agree with Paul being the worst opponent as he wasn't a HW

There are no mental gymnastics required. Tell me Otto Wallin's best win at HW, and I'll tell you if that's worthy of entering the top 10.

The desperation of fanboys to give Joshua ANY kind of accolade is comical.

Wallin was seen as a consensus Top 10 guy at the time AJ fought him, including many of the posters on this site. Crying and denying the reality won't help you with this one.

Tell me Otto's best win at HW, I'll tell you if he was ever top 10.

I don't have to tell you anything. He was a consenus Top 10 guy at that time. It can be verified by a few second search on the internet. I won't debate opinions when we have the facts.

You reference a defunct boxing website, and "TBRB" which had him rank 5 for beating an inactive cruiserweight and want me to accept that as fact. He doesn't have a credible HW win which is why you can't name one, and he doesn't pass the eye test. He went on to get brutalized by 41 year old Chisora, further proving he was never on that level.

He was rated Top 10 by all the independent ranking outlets, 3 out of 4 sanctioning bodies and by majority of the posters on this page who gave thir Top 10 lists. You can cry about it in 10 or even 20 more posts - facts don't care about your feelings.

This is where we differ. Rankings are highly susceptible to the influence of money and hype. They differ from reality almost always. You can point to some organization that had Otto Wallin at #5 - what does it mean? Why did they have him at #5?

Can YOU explain his ranking? Or can you only hide behind "well this is what these people think". I don't care for the opinions of people who have Otto Wallin at rank 5 if there's no logic behind it.

How about you tell me, in 2024, how many of these fighters Otto Wallin demonstrated superiority over based on his performances:

    Usyk
    Chisora
    Joshua
    Fury
    Kabayel
    Parker
    Dubois
    Wilder
    Joyce
    Zhang
    Hrgovich
    Miller
    Ortiz
    Ruiz
    Ajagba
    Sanchez
    Bakole
    Anderson
    Pulev

You probably won't. You can meekly say "but these people said this!" in a weak attempt to prop up poor Otto.
