BOTH Canelo and Wilder tried a "cherry-pick" that badly backfired - Wilder tried to get the Fury name after he looked dreadful on his return from like 2 years out or whatever it was.

Canelo also was looking at Bivol as an easy way to get another 175 strap after Bivol looked like he had lost a step or 2 after inactivity and B-level challengers.

You can hate someone and be objective. This is such nonsense. Bivol a cherrypick. Sure bud.

Note I put "cherry-pick" in inverted commas - anyone one in the know about Bivol wouldn't have said it was - I'm talking about Canelo and his teams machinations; they badly miscalculated - in a similar way to how Wilder and his team did.

IMO Canelo and Hearn were looking at Bivol the same way they were lookin at Kov - even Hearn after the fight said as much to Bivol 'you never showed you could do this in your last 2 fights"

I don't think Canelo and his team really did proper homework on Bivol - I think they genuinely thought Canelo would walk through him like he did with Smith, Saunders & Plant. But any astute boxing fan knew Bivol was a level above - however, they still tried to stiff him on the cards!! 1 round from a draw? GTFO

So? Canelo and Hearn are not the same person. Plus, a comment like that doesn’t automatically mean it was a cherry pick. Bivol is 31, unbeaten, hasn’t taken a lot of punishment, has fought his whole career at 175. Some unimpressive but clearly winning performances don’t automatically make you ripe for the picking. Every champion has those performances.

Wilder is literally one of the biggest examples of guys trying to pad their record. Look at how many power punchers he avoided through his career

    OK, I shall rephrase:-

Neither really "dared to be great" IMO

There were reasons why Canelo went for Bivol and not Beterbiev. If Canelo had stayed @175 after beating the shell of Kov, and then tried to unfiy with Bivol & Beterbiev then, THAT woudl have been daring to be great.

This is not a valid argument. You guys just kept repeating things that weren't remotely true.

A skilled knockout artist like Beterbiev is automatically more threatening than a skilled light hitter. That's common sense. Beterbiev is also more popular but once again, Canelo picked an opponent he perceived as less threatening.

I'm just pointing out how goofy it is to pretend Canelo was being brave and daring to be great when he has frequently picked inferior opponents and with this last fight, he picked the less dangerous champion, showed him zero respect, and it ended in a train wreck for him. He can't even accept the loss like a man, so no, I'm not giving him any props lol.

I didn't say that I personally thought Bivol was a nobody. I'm saying there are far more well known boxers canelo could have faced and he chose not to, that's an undeniable fact. Benavaidez in Mexico, Charlo in America, or Beterbiev in Russia would have done crazy numbers and he knew it but chose the relatively obscure and light hitting Bivol thinking it would be easy.

Bivol is not a better fighter than Fury. And if you're willing to die on this hill, show me a post of yours at least a year prior to the Canelo fight where you shower Bivol with praise for his skill and I'll let you have this one.

The guy is almost as delusional as canelo, he really thought the bivol fight was close.

Wilder rematching the guy who brutally knocked him out can't be called a cherry pick no matter how you try to spin it.

It's true Wilder didn't face the best up until the time he fought Fury. It's also true he sought the third fight with Fury after how the second one turned out for him.
