This content is protected "He doesn't have to fight Dillian Whyte, he can jump straight into the AJ fight if he wants to". "We just thought it was a nice suggestion, for Wilder to come over to England, double his highest ever purse and raise his profile before the AJ fight" "You can't say Dillian Whyte isn't relevant, he's ranked number 1 with the WBC". "We thought it would be good for Wilder to actually be in a fight with a real opponent, given he's boxed nobody of any note". There's no doubt Hearn often talks too much, us Brits know all about that.....but he makes a lot of sense. Deontay, this man could do more for your career in a 5 minute chat than your own team have done for you in 9 years. Wilder's team take note - This is how the boxing business operates....Hearn is making an offer on Whyte's behalf because Whyte is the challenger, therefore, as Wilder is the challenger for the Joshua fight, you need to make Hearn an offer. (Hearn also talks about Jacobs, and how he wants the GGG rematch if GGG vs Canelo II isn't happening, and also talks about the potential winner of BJS v Lemeiux)
Whyte is #1 WBC, yet Wilder will fight another Haymon fighter Breazeale who can't fight at all, hell, a turtle is fast compared to Breazeale! Why not fight Whyte at #1 as he is supposed to, or Andy Ruiz? Wilder is afraid of them. Won't Haymon order Breazeale to take a dive? He can make him do it. Joshua has already knocked Breazeale once!
A generous guy is Hearn offering Wilders $4 million to fight Whyte. I personally think Wilder runs right through him so Wilder is mad to turn that kind of money down.
The Wilder vs Whyte fight makes more sense than nearly any other fight for Deontay other than Joshua or Parker. But he wants no part of it. His choice. He will be having to fight Whyte for a quarter of the money soon enough anyway should he actually get past Joshua. If Joshua beats him then he wont have any mandatorys to worry about.
Wilder has been completely caught out here.... He refers to Whyte as "Irrelevant"..... Yet Wilder's opponents have all been ranked lower by the WBC.
