So, we still await an official announcement. It got me thinking, what could be causing the delay? Here are my two theories... 1. Tyson Fury is having admin issues. Past indiscretions won't help his boxing licence, working visa or immigration applications. 2. Eddie Hearn has secretly upped his offer for Wilder to fight Joshua. This could explain why Wilder is rumoured to attend Joshua/Povetkin next week. Thoughts?
3. Waiting to find out the venue witch will commit the most money. 4. Waiting to announce it the week of the aj fight. My guess is with number 4.
They'll be waiting for AJ fight week to try and trump it then ride off of some of the publicity from that, I suspect. Fury has been to the US before, I don't see anything preventing him from going again. As for the second part, no chance.
It will look silly on Warren, Fury, and Wilder if it falls through. They don't want to embarrass themselves infront of matchroom and the world at this point. after all this build up and jabs at hearn/bellew/aj etc
I really don't get the thought process behind #4. People have to book hotels and tickets from UK to Vegas so the sooner you announce it the better. Plus....it has already been announced! I think it's something deeper than that. I think both camps have realized that this is NOT some huge money fight and a lot of things need to be streamlined with Showtime/ T-Mobile/ BT sport
The fight will happen when Eddie says it can happen. He’s the only relevant promoter out there, the rest are out of touch pensioners
Riding on and disrupting the AJ/Pov fight week. It reduces AJs status as A side in the eyes of some. Reframes the playing field. There's a juggernaut called Tyson heading toward the division, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. It's about to make mincemeat of AJ, Wilder and anyone else. Nobody has more self belief or skill. Your time is up AJ. Like Klitschko before you, you're gonna get chewed up and spat out.
He has, but that was before his public confession to Class A drug use and his failed drugs tests/PED conviction.
They want AJ vs Sasha to give them a bounce, That's why they are waiting before they announce, When AJ wakes up on his next big fight day, The press will write only of Fury Deontay, So the Povetkin fight will be destined to tank, As the boxing gods smile on the plotting of Frank,
Frank will be waiting until fight week AJ/Povetkin to announce it like a petulant child More fool him though because it's only going to draw MORE attention to the fact there is an AJ fight on that week
I don't think they would impact his visa. His drug test wasn't ruled as a conviction of any sort, it was ruled as a "you failed but we can't prove it" type of thing, which has different implications.
BT are advertising it on their website, showtime have been advertising it also apparently, as have both promoters & both fighters, it's happening. i don't know why it's got the Matchroom groupies so heated for anyway, it is so strange
