I happily paid for this one, lots of fights I wont but this was worthy of PPV in my opinion. Given all the stick BT get and Frank 800k is a fair number.
For a relatively new ppv, middle of the night it's a fantastic number. Thst means ppv sales in UK and US were around £70m. Great achievement.
I see Bob Arum said digital ppvs were not included in US figures, when it is, US ppv figures will be nearer 1.2m. If so ppv total in UK and US would be nearly £100m. Around 2 million ppv sales is outstanding, especially when over half are $79.99.
Fury has blasted Joshua out of the water as these figures eclipse anything Eddie Hearnz has produced, the gate alone was over $16 million where as Joshua v Klitschko was around $11 million. Welcome to the big time Mr Fury.
He was hoping they'd be poor. For some reason, a large % of AJ/matchroom fans want every other boxing event, especially those involving Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder, to fail. Imagine that, boxing fans hoping boxing superfights fail. I'll never wrap my head around that one, ever. Between the gate, the US PPV's and UK PPV's, the fight generated more money than any AJ fight. Does @TonyHayers have anything to say about this? Seeing as how he told us we were all delusional to believe Fury/Wilder 2 was a monster fight. He told us we were mad to think AJ/Fury would be 50/50 split, blah, blah, blah. Proven wrong on all counts Mr. Hayers and the list is bloody huge. I'd imagine the amount of people watching on illegal streams was colossal. I personally watched it for free. All my pals watched this fight, scores and scores of lads I know through various pastimes etc and I know of only one who paid PPV can't go on forever with the alternative options. I wonder when it all ends and where it goes.
When you think of where Fury was just a couple of years ago; 28 stone, one relatively succesful UK PPV under his belt and pretty much unknown in America, it really is amazing what he has done. We've never seen the likes of this man and never will again so enjoy him while he's here.
