I'm glad that BT Sport have enjoyed some success after all the hard work they've put in over the past few years. They make great content around the fights and although I accept it's another subscription, it's good for British boxing that Sky has serious competition.

If the rematch goes ahead I'll be interested to see how they push it. Wilder was annihilated and then made himself a laughing stock with his behaviour since the fight. They will need to rehabilitate him and start building him up as a threat.

Most hardcore fans know Wilder in a rematch is as dangerous as about any opponent Fury can face. For the near future anyway I have accepted Fury is not gonna be in a pickem fight cause there is no one I would see being good enough to pick over Fury. Whyte and AJ fights would be as one sided as the Wilder rematch.

I think the only way public intrigue can be generated for BT would be if the fight was in the UK. Even though with Wilder's power you can't rule him out, Fury would be the heavy favourite. I doubt that many people would stay up until 5am again.

If the fight was in the UK and held in a stadium in the North West, that would be really interesting for the public. If they did it properly with Joshua ringside too (assuming he beats Pulev) there'd be that to factor in too.

Won't happen due to the American ties in Fury's contract but that's the best thing for BT I think.

Very impressive numbers considering Tyson isn’t really a big ticket seller. I do find it strange that in 2020 people pay for PPV

I m querying them figures tbh. Highly doubt that shifted 800,000 ppv buys in england. Pretty sure froch v groves 2 which was massively promoted here in the uk. On at a decent time with a good undercard sold 850,000. Fury v wilder wasn,t even promoted well over here. On at 5am with no undercard. Hatton v mayweather which was massively promoted done a million i think and pacman v mayweather was 1.2 million. These fights we,re heavily promoted over here tho.

Big fury fan but highly doubt he shifted them figures...could be wrong tho

Mate, you must have been living in a cave in a desolate place, if you think the fight was poorly promoted. The fight was huge and people I know who are barely causal boxing fans were asking me about it.

I think it was mainly the ITV stuff which gave it the boost.

Arum may well be over egging the numbers abit, who knows, but a month ago most people were thinking they would struggle to do 400k, so they’ve clearly done very well.

Things have changed, Fury is now a household name in the UK. His book is top of Amazon's best selling list.

If Fury fought in the UK next, he would sell out Wembley against a decent opponent.

100 years from now they will still all be talking about the boxing legend known as the Gypsy King - the greatest comeback ever outside and inside the boxing ring.

Think the first fight done something like 125k buys. A jump to 800k is pretty massive. Although i did just see that bt sports has 8 million viewers which surprised me a bit. Didnt expect it to be that high ....but Still 10 percent of viewers buying it at 5am is a stretch imo.

Looking at the figures the uk market isnt far off the US market. I find that hard to believe bearing in mind it was prime time US and 5am in britain. Could be true but quite shocked at them figures if true.

If true those are amazing figures for early in the morning and on a still emerging PPV platform like BT.

Agree. Just notoriously hard to get high ppv numbers at 5am in britain. I still dont think it was promoted that well. In comparison with sky sports fighters anyway. Was no real mention of it till a few weeks before the fights.

The first fight did more than 125k.

They did a tremendous job promoting the fight in the UK, it was absolutely everywhere.

Who cares about promoting the fight a few weeks before the fight?

The hard work to part PPV Mugths with their cash is 14 days before the fight and BT certainly outdone Sky in promoting this fight.

    1. The fight was mentioned numerous times during every live football match on BT.
    2. The 5-6 30 minute documentaries on BT were excellent viewing.
    3. The Gypsy King Documentary on ITV - simply wonderful.
    4. The York Hall card on the same night stuck on ITV with the fight plastered all over the ring.
    5. Talksport widely advertised the fight during this 2 week period and it was discussed on every show.

It was a first class promotion in terms of selling PPVs.
