Hopefully, but I somehow doubt it. There's only what, 9 weeks until the fight? Even if a couple of heavyweights have been called and told to be prepared for that date, I still think it's extremely unfair not to have things finalized prior to when camps are started. That's what they did to Duhaupas. He had a couple of weeks to prepare, but the fight wasn't 100% until it was a few weeks out.

 

Glazkov would be a decent opponent for a title defense even if he is featherfisted. The rest would be just like Duhaupas and Molina. I hope it's not Fujimoto though

 

Rafael reported that Glazkov is the leading canditate but he might choose to pass over and wait for Wlad for a bigger payday. So Spzilka, Wawrzyk and Fujimoto better start their training camps now

 

I doubt it will be Glazkov, and I don't blame him... He's already mandatory to Wlad and will probably wait for the fight with Fury to be through before deciding what to do. He makes a lot more fighting Wlad in Germany than he does fighting Wilder in Alabama for peanuts.

 

And Takam is waiting for an offer that'll probably never come as well.

 

Szpilka would be decent. In fact I would have given Wilder some credit had he taken on Szpilka instead of Molina, and Duhaupas. But he's had his easy voluntary defenses.... He really needs to make up and face someone in the top 10, that's obviously not going to happen though. Still Szpilka wouldn't be farcical on paper, like a fight with Fujimoto or Wawrzyk would be. Szpilka like Wilder is extremely flawed, but not without skill. He has enough power and skill to make this fight interesting....

I wouldn't mind seeing Wilder vs Spzilka either. They've accustomed us so low standards that a guy who was stopped by Jennings and struggled with ancient Adamek sounds like a good choice for an opponent

It is. I'm just hoping contenders will come to sense and start chasing the best challenges like Povetkin did instead of seeking the easiest way possible for a title shot.

 

Yep. That's what's heart the HW division the most in recent years, more than the supposed lack of talent. The reluctance of top fighters wanting to face one another. That changes and the division will be A LOT more entertaining, even with the current talent pool that a lot of people seem to think is the worst ever.
